There are few places on Earth as untouched and unexplored as the glaciers, mountain lakes, snow-covered volcanoes, hot springs, fjords and islands of Chilean Patagonia, and the adventure potential is quite superlative. Land by helicopter on a glacier to begin a hike, soar upriver through temperate rainforest by jet boat, kayak past playful sea lions, land in a high Andean meadow to jump on a horse, take a zodiac onto a pristine mountain lake for some fishing, thrill to the white water of a rushing Patagonian torrent, and gasp as a blue whale surfaces by your inflatable.
To accomplish all of this, the Atmosphere fuses nature and sophisticated technology, operating an air-to-sea transportation system that includes a Bell 407 helicopter, custom-built jet boats, zodiacs, aluminium skiffs, inflatable rafts, ATVs and top fly-fishing gear, and a team of expert guides will help you get the very best out of each breathtaking experience.
Each itinerary is different and is based around the tides, weather and the wildlife, and strenuous efforts are made to ensure that you rarely if ever set eyes on another tourist. Each day you will wake up in a spectacular new setting, knowing that everything has been done to ensure you’ll be able to explore the area’s most outstanding natural highlights.
Life on board is equally wonderful. The Atmosphere’s design and interior décor oozes casual refinement and warmth, and the 14 cabins are fitted out with care and offer high thread-count linens, soft beds and panoramic windows.
There is a spacious and comfortable living space, along with library and bar area, which forms the venue for tall-tale-swapping and camaraderie, and the gourmet cuisine is one of the highlights on board. One of Chile’s top chefs makes the best of the natural abundance of ingredients, and king crab, abalone, game birds and succulent beef are just some of what you might taste, while the ship’s sommelier will ensure perfect wine matches, including hard-to-source varieties.
After an intense day out exploring Patagonia, recharge your batteries in the spa, which includes a sauna, massages and hot tubs.
There are twelve Deluxe cabins and two Premium cabins. Each cabin has a private bathroom with hair dryers, air-conditioning and heat controls, safe deposit box, electricity plugs, as well as storage in drawers and under the bed. Each room has panoramic windows to enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
The Atmosphere has a restaurant, bar, library, spa, gym, hot tubs, helicopter, fleet of marine craft.
