Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
High season is generally December to April when it's warm and humid. The coastal location ensures that temperatures rarely exceed 30°C and generally do not fall below 13°C (night-time in July). Even in winter (June-September), when rates are lower, daytime temperatures usually reach 21°C. This can be a lovely time to visit as it is warm in the day, cooler at night and drier. Rainfall is a possibility throughout the year, but the peak summer months of January and February often experience heavier showers. Christmas, New Year, January, Carnival, Easter and Paraty's International Literary Festival (normally held in July) are high season and hotels will be busy.

Pousada do Sandi is a charming 18th Century hotel located in the historical center of Paraty, with 26 traditionally styled guest rooms and suites. Paraty’s dining is excellent and the hotel's restaurant is no exception, with splendid dishes served up to the sounds of traditional Brazilian music.
Founded in 1650, Paraty (or Parati) is a beautiful colonial town that has remained relatively unchanged right into the 21st century. It used to be the principal port for exporting gold and other minerals in the country and enjoyed great prosperity. Today Paraty is considered by UNESCO to be one of the most important examples of colonial architecture in the world. An excellent way to spend the day is on a boat or schooner exploring many of the 65 unspoiled islands, which have superb sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. The area is also ideal for walking, hiking, bathing, snorkeling and fishing. In the historical center of Paraty there are numerous boutiques, bars and charming little restaurants offering traditional cuisine including mouth-watering seafood. Cars are not allowed down the cobbled streets, so it is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Rio or Sao Paulo.

Reviews
Sarah Lee (Staff)
I found this a good solid choice for Paraty. It is in an excellent location, but because it is an old historic building, it can be a little noisy at times. Paraty is a sensational example of a Brazilian colonial town, and Pousada do Sandi will not disappoint those looking for a comfortable, sensibly priced option in a great location.
