It's impossible not to leave feeling relaxed! Everything at Ponta ds Ganchos has been designed with relaxation in mind, from the massage treatment rooms overlooking the ocean to the live music on the beach on Fridays. Even those who prefer to remain active have plenty of opportunities to get out and about, with hiking trails along the peninsula and guides that can take you to secluded wild beaches nearby.
The service here is truly outstanding, I rarely had to ask for anything and if I did it had been done within minutes. Staff are polite and charming, but the service is also discrete allowing you to feel a little independent.
Be sure to save room for meal times as the food is simply amazing. All the ingredients are as fresh as they come and the menu is extensive and creative. If you like oysters, you re in for a treat, as Florianopolis is the home of oysters and the chefs here can whip up an array of different options from ceviches to gratins. Not to be missed for a couples getaway!

Come with an appetite! The food here is certainly going to spoil you, but that's just one of the highlights of a stay at Ponta dos Ganchos. My stay here was at the end of a trip where each hotel got better and better, so my expectations were sky high by the time I arrived in Florianopolis. The resort and staff at Ponta dos Ganchos really didn't disappoint, though, and I can see why it's a firm favorite with Scott Dunn guests.
The staff here are exceptional, really going above and beyond to look after you, anticipating your needs and showing incredible attention to detail, down to our thoughtful waiter Joao from breakfast sending a kettle to our room after noticing our rather British penchant for a cup of tea! The cuisine at the resort has a strong reputation and it's easy to see why - a tasting menu for breakfast, the freshest ingredients on offer at every meal, clever and delicious representations of Brazilian culinary favorites and treats like a seafood barbeque extravaganza. You certainly won't go hungry here!
I was lucky enough to stay in one of the Esmeralda villas which I can't recommend highly enough - the villa is vast, with a daybed to curl up reading a book on, beautiful deck facing the sunset with plungepool and sunloungers, an indoor sunlounger area for when the clouds roll in, your own sauna (!), a double rain shower. Some days it was a tough choice to even leave the villa.
We spent our days enjoying the peace and quiet of the peninsula, doing yoga on our deck, hiking in the forest to other beaches, canoeing past the fishing pots in the next bay, trying stand-up paddle boarding and there's plenty more to occupy you besides. Four days here felt like much longer, such was our state of relaxation, and I am already longing to return.
Clear blue water and lush green fauna surround this adults-only resort. All meals are included in the rates, and the restaurant closes after the last guest has retired for the evening. The gourmet kitchen serves regional Catarinese cuisine at lunch and international fare for dinner, while the well-stocked bars offer over 200 wines, fine liquors and various Cuban cigars. For a truly memorable evening, savor an evening meal on a private island served by your very own waiter. Scuba diving in the Marine Reserve and diving lessons with instructors, qualified by the P.A.D.I., can be arranged but for those who simply wish to kick back, there is a wide selection of D.V.D.s that can be viewed in the resort’s cinema or in your very own bungalow. Alternately, spend some time in the Dior Spa.
