Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

High season is generally December to April when it's warm and humid. The coastal location ensures that temperatures rarely exceed 30°C and generally do not fall below 13°C (night-time in July). Even in winter (June-September), when rates are lower, daytime temperatures usually reach 21°C. This can be a lovely time to visit as it is warm in the day, cooler at night and drier. Rainfall is a possibility throughout the year, but the peak summer months of January and February often experience heavier showers. Christmas, New Year, January, Carnival, Easter and Paraty's International Literary Festival (normally held in July) are high season and hotels will be busy.

Nikki Trailor (Staff)

This may not be the cheapest option in Paraty but it's hard not to be wowed by the personal service here. It very much feels like a home from home, as although polished, it's not over the top and you quickly feel comfortable. The staff are warm and friendly and will do everything to make sure you are taken care of, thinking outside of the box to keep guests happy (including a number of famous faces who have stepped through the doors).

One thing to note is that the pool is quite small, however a perfect spot for lounging or cooling off. There is plenty going on in Paraty to warrant giving pool time a miss altogether anyway so definitely not an issue, it's just a matter of personal preference.

Visit Casa Turquesa and receive a warm welcome from owner, Tetê Etrusco, who has spent 5 years perfecting her charming hotel. A true labour of love, the historical significance and beauty of this place blends seamlessly with modern comforts and flair. Located in the historic center of Paraty, its façade replicates an old 18th-century town house that was carefully restored to its original Colonial design. Inside, each of the 9 rooms is individually decorated in vibrant and cool colors with romantic beds draped in custom mosquito netting, every up-to-date amenity and picturesque views of the bay of Paraty, the rustic tile roofs of the town center, the mountains and the dome of the Santa Rita Church. The inside patio is a great place to relax and where you will find the swimming pool, bar, wine cellar, gazebo and garden. The reading room is a cozy retreat with its warming fireplace. Casa Turquesa was voted Pousada of 2009 by Guia Quatro Rodas, Brazil’s most revered hotel guide.
