As Bahia lies within a tropical zone, it has a warm climate all year round and does not have low winter temperatures, which are typical of temperate climates. However, it rains more during cooler months (May and June) than during hot months (from October to April). Average annual temperature is 28° C.
The family friendly Tivoli Ecoresort Praia do Forte is conveniently located one hour's drive north of Salvador on Brazil's stunning Bahian coastline and surrounded by palm fringed beaches. It offers an abundance of onsite facilities and activities.
Tivoli Ecoresort Praia do Forte is set amongst 25,000 m2 of gardens and coconut groves, with miles of beaches, coconut forests, multicolored reefs, natural salt water pools, rivers, waterfalls, lagoons and relics from colonial Brazil. The hotel is a short distance from the center of picturesque Praia do Forte fishing village, which is home to the fascinating Tamar Project set up 20 years ago to save the endangered sea turtle.
250 air-conditioned rooms are spaciously located in two-storey bungalows, each with their own veranda and hammocks overlooking either the tropical gardens or the beautiful beach dotted with palm trees. The hotel is constructed in a style which combines pre-Baroque Jesuit architecture with Polynesian architecture. There are three swimming pools, two floodlit tennis courts, three bars, a restaurant serving local and international cuisine and a nautical center with facilities for windsurfing, kayaking and diving. The resort also offers superb spa facilities, including a selection of different therapies and Thalassotherapy. But if you're looking for something more cultural, trips to the ruins of the Garcia D'Avila castle are available, one of the oldest Portuguese constructions in the country.
Tivoli Ecoresort Praia do Forte offers 287 rooms located in two-storey bungalows split into five different categories: suite deluxe, master suite, master, standard plus, and standard. Each bungalow has its own veranda with fantastic views of the tropical gardens and pristine white sands.
Children are welcomed and there are extensive facilities to cater for them. The Careta Careta Club boasts a private water park, theater, playground, garden area, art workshop and restaurant. There is also a baby pantry and toy room for younger children
The resort offers an endless list of facilities including a stunning outdoor infinity pool, sauna, spa, kid's club, bar, restaurant, fitness center and Business Center.
Tivoli Ecoresort Praia do Forte offers hiking, canoeing, diving, water sports, tennis, volleyball, snooker, ping pong, fishing and bird watching.

Easily accessible from Salvador, excellent facilities, great food and a wonderful palm-fringed beach, as well as the hotel's engagement with the Turtle Project, I felt that Praia do Forte ticks many boxes. The newly built suites are really lovely, and there is a fantastic spa. I loved the monkeys that seem to be everywhere and, although I was not there when the humpback whales pass through, this would make a great place for seeing these magnificent creatures. It's also one of the best options in Brazil for a family beach vacation, as there are plenty of activities for the children to do.
