Description

Fazenda Sao Francisco do Corumbau lies just off the south coast of Bahia between the cities of Porto Seguro and Prado. This stylish tropical retreat is a real hidden gem of Brazil, set on beautiful farmland amidst palm trees and overlooking an unspoiled beach.

Fazenda Sao Francisco offers total privacy, excellent cuisine and luxurious contemporary sea-facing suites and bungalows. The bungalows all have their own private verandas, small gardens, enormous bathrooms with over-sized sunken baths and bedrooms which are stylish, light and airy opening up to a view of the ocean. The restaurant uses ingredients cultivated from its own organic vegetable garden and fresh seafood fished locally in Corumbau to produce mouth-watering local dishes. It also offers an extensive wine list.

The emphasis here is on relaxation, but for those who want more than this there are trips into the nearby Indian Reserve to soak up the indigenous culture, hiking, scuba diving, boat rides through the mangroves and horse riding.

Accommodation

Fazenda Sao Francisco has four super deluxe bungalows, two rooms on the upper level of the main building and two deluxe bungalows with two rooms each. All have views overlooking the ocean, air-conditioning, mini bar and private veranda.

Childcare

Children are welcome at the hotel, and babysitting can be arranged upon request, but there are no specific facilities other than cots and children's menus available.

Facilities

Fazenda Sao Francisco offers a lagoon style swimming pool, restaurant serving Bahian cuisine, bar, beach service and massage by appointment.

Activities

Activities at Fazenda Sao Francisco include birdwatching, hiking, horseback riding through the mangroves, scuba diving, fishing, and snorkeling only meters off the shore in the stunning coral reef.

When to go

Temperatures in Bahia vary little from month to month and it's warm all year round, with average highs hovering around 30°C. April to July is the wettest season (though it can rain at any time) and June to September bring slightly cooler evenings. Salvador goes mad during Carnaval (February or March depending on the year) - more than 2 million party-goers hit the streets for a colorful riot of dancing and drinking - expect prices to hike and availability to fall dramatically.
