The Sofitel is located in one of Buenos Aires’ most fashionable neighborhoods, the Retiro, close to many of the city’s best shops, restaurants and art galleries. Built in 1929, the vision of this Neoclassical architectural masterpiece was to become the first sight on the horizon for sailors approaching Argentina’s great capital. With 20 storeys, the building stands head and shoulders above most its neighbors. Nearly three quarters of a century on, the building was converted and fully refurbished into one of Buenos Aires most luxurious and elegant hotels.
The luxury guest rooms and suites at the Sofitel Buenos Aires are decorated in soothing neutral shades with elegant Art Deco furnishings, true to the history and culture of the building itself and its surroundings. There is a renowned restaurant serving Mediterranean gourmet cuisine, an indoor pool, fitness center and a cosy drawing room for relaxing in large leather armchairs at the end of the day while the open fire blazes.
Sofitel Buenos Aires has 144 luxury guest rooms, 28 suites, and one apartment, with either city, river or atrium views. All are decorated in a very subtle Art Deco style with fresh soothing tones, elegant Argentine leathers and sumptuous Boticcino marble bathrooms. Modern comforts include WiFi, cable television and minibar.
Children are very welcome to come and stay at Sofitel Buenos Aires. Interconnecting rooms are available for families and babysitting can be arranged on request.
Sofitel Buenos Aires has an indoor swimming pool, gym, fitness center, hammam and massage space. The excellent restaurant, Le Sud, serves gourmet French fusion cuisine made with the finest Argentinian produce and there is also a traditional cafe and an elegant lounge bar, with cosy leather armchairs and a collection of books on France and Argentina.
The Sofitel Buenos Aires is ideally located within easy reach of many antique shops, galleries and restaurants. A private excursion can also be arranged to see some of the city's highlights including the cemetery in Recoleta where the iconic Eva Perón is buried, the infamous antiques market in San Telmo on a Sunday and the Malba museum with a superb collection of Latin American art. There are also some excellent Tango shows and Tango classes can be arranged.
