The Faena is an uber stylish Philippe Starck-designed hip hotel with a fabulous outdoor pool, avant-garde interiors, superb dining and the best tango show in town. Faena is located in the up-and-coming area of Puerto Madero in Buenos Aires.
Faena Hotel Buenos Aires, set in a historic building in the fashionable port area of Puerto Madero, is the ultimate in luxury and cutting edge design. Conceived by Argentine fashion designer Alan Faena and designed by the legendary Philippe Starck, it is undoubtedly the most unique and most talked about hotels in Buenos Aires, receiving rave reviews from press around the world.
Faena's luxurious guest rooms and opulent living areas have been stylishly designed and infused with the romance and decadence of La Belle Epoque, whilst remaining undoubtedly modern, even minimalist. Rooms and suites feature plush red velvet drapes, remote conntrol blinds, flat screen smart televisions, giant sleigh beds facing vast windows that look out over the city skyline or the River Plate, flat screen televisions and contemporary glass walled bathrooms with Dolby surround speakers.
Faena epitomizes design chic in every detail, from the reception-free foyer to the carefully thought-out position of the beds. Treat yourself to a day of pampering in exquisite luxury and sophistication at the hotel’s renowned spa and Turkish Hammam or relax with the cream of Porteno society by the fabulous outdoor pool. Don't forget to sample the exquisite cuisine in one of the Faena's flamboyant dining areas, from the classically Argentinean El Mercado to the dreamy El Bistro; designed with striking, all white décor, complete with gold-studded white leather and a dozen mounted unicorn heads.
Nightlife is high on the agenda at Faena and your stay in Buenos Aires would not be complete without seeing a tango performance. Luckily, every evening the Faena puts on an incredible show at Rojo Tango theater, widely regarded as the best in Buenos Aires.
Accommodation at Faena comprises 88 luxury guest rooms and suites, in a wide range of categories, from Parkview Rooms right up to the Faena Suite. All rooms and suites are designed in an wonderfully opulent and elegant style, with polished woods, luxurious leathers, automated curtains and blinds, home theater systems and glass surround bathrooms.
With exquisitely designed details, each of the rooms at the Faena Hotel Buenos Aires provide excellent services and the best technology to make our guests’ stay an unforgettable one. Luxury amenities include home theaters and LCD screens, free wireless Internet, and Egyptian cotton linens. Picture windows invite you to enjoy the magnificent views of the Ecological Reserve, the parks, Río de la Plata and Puerto Madero port.
Children of all ages are welcome at the Faena. Babysitting, cots, extra beds and children's movies can all be arranged on request.
The facilities at Faena are first class. There is a fabulous outdoor pool and bar, an indoor bar and a state of the art spa with sauna, Turkish Hammam, gym, Zen room and personal trainers. For dining the hotel has two excellent restaurants, the informal El Mercado and the award winning El Bistro, with its kitch-chic design and innovative cuisine.
There is a wealth of activities on offer at Faena, including visits to the historical sites, galleries and museums, tango and cooking classes and wine tasting. It is also possible to arrange a personal shopper to take you around the best of Buenos Aires' boutiques and malls. All guests at Faena are allocated an Experience Manager, who serves as a personal assistant, concierge, tour guide and itinerary planner.
Owned by ex-fashion designer Alan Faena, and designed by Philippe Starck, this one looks as if it might have been built specifically for fashion models. If the intimidatingly gorgeous crown at the rooftop pool bar get a bit much, wedge yourself between the canoodling couples in the velvet-draped cabaret room. The decor is a mix of ruby reds, stained glass and chandeliers. You'll need your sunglasses if you're dining in the bistro, where unicorns' heads protude from startlingly white walls.
So, all those other hotels we recommended... We were just kidding. You know (wink, wink), to keep the riffraff away from this one. The Faena's where you really want to stay. In fact, this luxury hotel-apartment-fantasy-world is the most decadent, sumptuous, sexy, over-the-top hotel in BA, with a price tag and service to match. It's dreamland for adults.

When I stayed at the Faena, I had a permanent grin on my face. It's not a hotel for everyone, and I wouldn't necessarily choose to stay here myself, but I couldn't help being swept along by the sheer playfulness of the atmosphere and design. Look out for the silver taps in the shape of swan's necks (a typical touch from Philippe Starck), go down to the pool to experience the scene as the glitterati relax and play, and above all on no account miss Rojo Tango, the Faena's signature tango show - slick, dashing and truly thrilling. It's a superb way to cap off a trip to Argentina in real style.
