To start planning your vacation to Four Seasons Vail
At the foot of Vail Mountain, the Four Seasons is a contemporary, luxury hotel with strong Alpine influences. Decorated in dark rich woods and clad in limestone, the hotel oozes style, and the service is impeccable. Facilities for adults and children alike are excellent and we would strongly recommend this as a choice for your family's first foray to the States.
Rooms, suites and residences are classic 'Four Seasons' in style - lots of wood and creams with a feel of 'mountain chic'. All have fireplaces and a balcony or terrace, and residences have fully-equipped kitchens, dining areas and living rooms which are great for families wanting a homely feel.
The Flame Restaurant is chic and laid back, serving slow-cooked fine mountain fare. Or after a day on the slopes, ease into the evening at the Fireside Lounge, with its charcuterie and tapas selection, impressive wine and cocktail list. The hotel provides a good children's menu, and children under four eat for free.
For après-ski relaxation, the large heated outdoor pool invites you to go for a swim as snowflakes swirl above. Stepping out of the water, you’ll find a Four Seasons attendant ready to wrap you in a heated robe and escort you to the open-air fireplace for hot chocolate with homemade chocolate marshmallows! If winter swimming sounds too bracing, you might be better suited to the warmth of the alpine Spa with its range of revitalising massages and beauty treatments. Or relax in the sauna, eucalyptus steam room and Jacuzzi, all the while, your children having their own great time at Kids For All Seasons.
The Four Seasons is just a stroll to the dedicated ski concierge at the Vista Bahn chair lift, where your equipment is waiting and your boots are warmed.

Guests at The Four Seasons Vail have a wealth of facilities and services at their disposal - from the well appointed spa to the dedicated ski concierge service at the Vista Bahn lift. For those who'd like to ski another area for the day, the hotel has two Mercedes for use to drive yourself.
Located at the Vista Bahn lift, this is a full-service concierge team, available to assist Four Seasons guests with equipment rentals, ski lessons, maps, weather reports, ski condition information and more. Upon check-in to the Resort, guests who wish to ski will be fitted with appropriate boots and skis by a boot fitter. Their information will then be transferred via computer to the Ski Concierge building, where their boots and skis will be selected and placed in a locker corresponding to their guest room. These state-of-the-art lockers feature a system that air-dries boots and gear. When a guest arrives at the Ski Concierge, their pre-fitted boots and skis are presented, with boots warmed and skis expertly waxed and tuned to suit the day’s conditions and the skier’s preferences. Before hitting the slopes, guests can enjoy complimentary fresh-baked muffins and coffee, tea or hot chocolate.
Enjoy a swim even as snowflakes swirl above, or soak in an adult-only whirlpool (a second one is reserved for kids). As you step out, a Four Seasons attendant will wrap you in a heated robe and escort you to the open-air fireplace, where you may relax with a warm beverage in hand.
Fully equipped gym, personal trainers, studio classes, sauna and steam room.

When to go
The ski season in the United States is longer than that in Europe. Most resorts open sometime in November, with Thanksgiving (the fourth Thursday in that month) being a common opening time, and stay open until mid to late April. The Rocky Mountains in Colorado and Wyoming have the highest peaks and due to the semi-arid climate, have abundant snowfall with some great powder. The exceptionally high altitude means December through to February can be extremely cold, with temperatures sometimes reaching as low as -12C, although the skiing conditions remain very good. Warmer temperatures in the Spring mean more variable skiing conditions and softer, forgiving snow.
