Fall is Washington's most glorious season, though spring and summer are pleasant as well. These times bring in healthy-sized crowds due to favourable weather and special events. Weather usually remains warm throughout September, while cooler temperatures in October bring out the colorful foliage. Winter lasts too long for most people's tastes, stretching from December to April. During this period, visitors can expect temperatures below freezing and plenty of snow.

The Mayflower Grace is a true retreat where there is no doubt you will come away relaxed and rejuvenated. With a contemporary twist on the New England style the property feels fresh and elegant throughout. I stayed in the Allerton Cottage which is situated next to the Spa and just a short walk across the grounds to the Main House. Being situated away from the Main House added to the exclusive feel of the property and being next to the Spa was excellent as this is a real highlight of the property. The Spa has high ceilings and plenty of natural light which really adds to the relaxation. With luxuriously comfy rooms and impeccable service this property really is a gem set amongst the Connecticut countryside.
