Description

Located near the heart of Chatham on Cape Cod is Chatham Bars Inn, a luxury resort and spa nestled steps away from one of Cape Cod’s glorious sweeping beaches and the Atlantic Ocean.

Chatham is a picturesque seaside town located on the elbow of the Cape Cod. It boasts the quaint and walkable Main Street which is lined with family-owned restaurants, shops and businesses, with not a chain store in sight. The town is renowned for its relaxed beach culture, water activities and seafaring history, with the attraction all within walking distance. There are often festivals, parades, concerts and fireworks on display during the summer months. No visit to the town is complete without a trip to the see the iconic Chatham Lighthouse overlooking the harbor.

Located in the heart of Chatham on Cape Cod’s eastern shore is Chatham Bars Inn, a magnificent turn of the century landmark building, now converted into a luxury resort and spa set on 25 acres of landscaped gardens and steps away from one of Cape Cod’s endless sandy beaches.

The hotel offers a wide range of accommodation. Guests can choose to stay in the elegantly decorated guest rooms in the recently renovated Main Inn with its original grand staircase and splendid reception room. Or those who seek a more private experience can opt to stay in one of the 26 cottages dotted around the resort with their private terraces located amongst the gardens or on the beach. The Spa suites are perfect for adults in search of pampering boasting their own hydrotherapy tubs, saunas, steam showers, massage tables and fireplaces in addition to having easy access to the resort’s spa facilities.

The Spa itself includes wet and dry treatment rooms, a Vichy shower room, and an outdoor relaxation pool surrounded by lushly landscaped gardens with private cabanas.

With a choice of four restaurants to dine at, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Choose to dine at the stylish Stars restaurant with breath taking panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, or at the Beach House Grill right by the sand. The Tavern, with its cosy ambiance and welcoming bar serves great cocktails and on Fridays and Saturdays indulge in afternoon tea on a deep sofa whilst nibbling on a selection of tasty cakes and sandwiches.

Other than the obvious attraction of the sand and surf, there are plenty of activities on offer for all ages and interests: Why not charter the resort’s private jet boat over to the neighboring island of Martha’s Vineyard? Or hire a bike and cycle some of the 35 miles of the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Drive through the dunes of Nauset beach in one of the hotel’s Landrovers (bring your international licence) or take a walk with the in-house naturalist through the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge with its colony of Grey Seals.

The seas off Cape Cod are rich in marine life, whale excursions run from Provincetown throughout the summer and there’s fantastic sport fishing to be had from the hotel’s own state-of-the-art fishing boat. There are clay tennis courts, nearby golf courses and well-equipped fitness center.

Chatham Bars Inn is the perfect choice for families. Children’s programs run throughout the summer for children from 4 till 12 years, who are divided into three separate age groups. There’s arts and crafts, dressing up, beach Olympics, miniature golf, cookery classes, scavenger hunts, beach parties to name a few.. The Beach House Grill is popular with families with fun evening entertainment in the summer.

The Chatham Bars Inn is a great resort for all the family. Set just back from their private beach with just a road separating the Main Inn and the beach you are never too far from the sand and sea. Chatham Bars Inn offers many activities including gold, tennis, water sports, bike rentals and nature walks. You can also make use of their Bartender boat which takes people over to the nearby sand bar every 20 minutes. The town of Chatham is just 5 minutes away and the property can take you drop you off and pick you up again if you wish. Provincetown is a 45 minute drive away coming here for a bite to eat before or after a Whale Watching trip makes for a great day out!

Experiences

  • Biking through Cape Cod

Cape Cod has hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails. One of our favorites is the Cape Cod Bike Trail which starts in the village of Dennis and wanders 20 miles through charming towns and knotted pines before reaching Chatham.

  • Cranberry Bog Tours

Did you know that the cranberry is Cape Cod’s most famous fruit? A tour of a working organic cranberry bog in Harwich could be something a little bit different - where else could you take a pedalo or wade through a ruby red sea of berries?

  • Family Fishing on Cape Cod

The hotels can organize fishing trips which are perfect for introducing kids to sport fishing. The captains teach, bait hooks, cast, and ensure children have a great time on the water.

  • Scott Dunn Suggests: Chatham

Low-key and charming, the pretty town of Chatham sits on the 'elbow' of Cape Cod and is a treasure trove of family-owned boutiques, galleries and ice-cream parlours. Summer brings open-air concerts and the weather to explore the many nature trails nearby.

  • Whale Watching in Provincetown

Be enchanted by magnificent humpback whales, playful dolphins and elegant minke whales as you embark on an unforgettable whale watching trip from the harbor at Provincetown, accompanied by specialist naturalist guides for an in-depth experience.
