Florida is a year-round destination with balmy winters, but summers can be hot and humid. The best time to visit Florida is between March and May and in December when it is warm and sunny, before the weather begins to get too hot. Hurricanes and other less serious tropical storms can strike Florida any time in the summer up to the end of November, however the risk is greatest between August and October.

Built by one of America's wealthiest magnates, The Breakers remains Florida's most iconic hotel. Affording an unsurpassed level of service, The Breakers is as grand as it is luxurious with plenty of incredible facilities suited to families and couples.
Set on over 107 stunning acres of manicured gardens, lawns and golf courses, The Breakers offers guests a sprawling retreat on the sun-drenched coast of Palm Beach. The hotel's incredible character, fascinating history and impeccable facilities make this place an idyllic getaway for all the family.
Built in 1896 buy oil and real estate tycoon Henry Flagler, The Breakers has been standing in Palm Beach before the town was even established. First built to accommodate travelers heading down the coast on Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway, the hotel remains the destination of choice for many wealthy families. The hotel has a fascinating and sometimes chequered history (ask about the rum boats that serviced the hotel when liquor was illegal) and was burned down twice in the early 20th century. Following an incredible effort to rebuild the hotel in 1926 and yearly multi-million dollar refurbishments, The Breakers today is far grander than any of its predecessor buildings and is one of the finest hotels in Florida.
Set over half a mile of wonderful golden sands with lagoon like waters and a reef close by for a spot of snorkeling, it is the perfect spot for a beach front vacation. On windier days, the seas rise high enough for a spot of gentle surfing for those brave enough whilst others can simply walk the beach or enjoy one of the five pools for something gentler. Guests can begin their day with a delicious breakfast at The Circle followed by a morning on the golf course or at the tennis club. Enjoy lunch at the famed Ocean Club, so you need not move too far from your sun loungers during the day or opt for one of the decadent pool side bungalows if you wish to be waited on hand and foot. Afternoons are for relaxing and enjoying the beach; try kayaking, paddle boarding or hop aboard the resort's Hobie Cat boat for a Catamaran Cruise.
For families, this is the ideal place to be. Not only is there a wealth of facilities available, but there is also a whole Family Entertainment Center available for them, so little ones will never be bored. Children’s programs, which include anything from glitter tattoos to turtle experiences, are available and run daily for an additional charge. Evening programs are also available should you wish a table for two for dinner on occasion.
Golf enthusiasts will be in heaven with 36 holes of historic Ocean Golf Course and the contemporary Rees Jones Course at Break Waters on site, as well as two state of the art learning centers of the John Webster golf academy. 10 tennis courts with pros on hand will be sure to improve your tennis game as well. If you can tear yourselves away from the abundant facilities on site then downtown Palm Beach, with fantastic shopping and restaurants, is only 15 minutes' drive away. The fine art galleries, designer shopping and fine dining of old Palm Beach are even closer. However, with nine restaurants on site you will be spoiled for choice for dining opportunities at the hotel. The Top of the Point restaurant assures wonderful night time views.
Accommodation options are simple here. The ocean front rooms are the only ones with balconies and so are highly recommended and coveted, although are not suitable for children under the age of 6. As I approached the impressive hotel it was hard to ignore The Breakers sheer size and grandeur. However, as soon as I stepped inside the hotel walls, I was surprised to find how intimate this resort felt, the service was exceptional, and the friendly and engaging staff were always happy to help or provide assistance. There are numerous facilities in the resort and I was especially impressed with the children's facilities, including a play area, craft area, playground, pool and arcade. The resort offers a plethora of family fun along with elegance and refinement.

When you drive up to this historic landmark, you will instantly feel like you are arriving somewhere truly special. Although it is a large hotel, there are over 2000 staff members, allowing you to receive the personalized service needed for a luxury resort. The staff are just superb, making everything about your stay perfect here and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are wonderful, especially those suites overlooking the ocean and it is absolutely worth every penny to stay here.
