My stay at the 1 Hotel Miami was filled with excitement, with an ever-growing concern for the environment I was looking forward to seeing a hotel which prides itself on being as eco-friendly. As I had hoped I was hard pushed to find any disposable plastic, in fact the only traces I found were in the form of a giant whale made entirely from materials washed ashore on Miami Beach. The lobby itself is brimming with natural life, look hard enough and you can even spot the color coordinated fungi growing from the walls! The hotels environmentally policy carried through into the thoughtfully designed guest rooms finished to perfection with natural wood, linens and calming neutral tones. My stay fell over the weekend which resulted in a lively atmosphere, the adult rooftop pool complete with a live DJ was warming up for what seemed to be a busy Friday night. Elsewhere in the hotel the facilities felt more serene, guests relaxing around the family pool on the third floor enjoyed the sand bar with pool snacks and complete with its own sand pit. The third and final pool was the most relaxing, directly overlooking the white sands and turquoise waters of Miami Beach the pool felt intimate and benefited from beautiful Cabanas including their own TV, perfect for families staying out of the hot afternoon sun.
As I expected I was impressed with the sustainably of the hotel which is a must for those wishing to experience the closest thing to a City eco resort, that said the hotel attracts a vibrant clientele looking for good time, in my opinion the hotel is best suited to slightly older families who can enjoy the lively atmosphere and soak up the natural experience.
