The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island is one of the finest oceanfront hotels built on the East Coast in the past 20 years. Driving to Kiawah takes you back to a simpler time, and as you pass beneath ancient trees graced with beards of Spanish moss you know you have arrived somewhere special. Located on a beautiful barrier island just a few miles from historic Charleston, South Carolina lies Kiawah Island. The Sanctuary is situated along the pristine shores of Kiawah Island, just thirty minutes from downtown Charleston.
When to go
Kiawah Island has a humid subtropical climate with mild winters, and fairly hot and humid summers. Average temperatures in January and February are in the upper teens, while average temperatures from May through September stay in the high 20s. Temperatures in October, November and December tend to drop to the low 20s and mid-teens. It can get fairly cool in this area during the winter months, so you will need to bring some sweaters and light jackets if you plan to be outside during the day.
