Tucked away in between the villages of Warm Springs and Hot Springs in pretty Bath County, Handpicked at Homestead Preserve offers a wonderful opportunity for guests to live their own Virginia dream in beautiful homes in tranquil settings.
Handpicked at Homestead Preserve offers all the comforts and independence of your own private vacation home with the back up of staff on hand to arrange any experiences or activities you would like or to be there if you need anything during your stay.
The homes are spread throughout the Hot Springs and Warm Springs area, tucked away close to the George Washington State Park in some stunning scenery. Choose from a simple wooden cabin completely hidden away from the rest of the world through to an elegant country home in beautiful grounds. Each of the 10 homes is privately owned and cared for and each has its own style.
Guests can choose to be totally independent or take advantage of some of the extra facilities available. The Warm Springs Dairy Community Centre is on hand exclusively for guests of the homes and offers a fitness center, sauna and hot tub as well as outdoor pool for guests to enjoy. There is also a games center to keep the children entertained. For gourmet snacks and sandwiches, the Milk House Market just next door is right on hand.
Hot Springs and Warm Springs are the perfect base for exploring this beautiful area whether it's on foot on one of the stunning walks, by mountain bike or by bike. It's also a superb area to learn how to fly fish or if you are already an accomplished fisher, it's a great spot to hone your skills further.

Shepherd's Cottage: Beautiful two bedroom plus loft antique log cabin in the Sheep Meadow neighborhood. Open fireplaces and rustic features. Other homes close by.
Springfield Cottage: Stunning 3 bedroom modern cottage next door to Trailview cottage but still with plenty of privacy, close to Hot Springs
Trailview Cottage: Gorgeous 3 bedroom antique log cabin close to Springfield Cottage. Open fireplaces, swing seat on deck and forest fire pit
Anastasia: Rustic antique log cabin with 2 bedrooms in the mountain village of Warm Springs. Romantic and cozy with log fires and deck. Close to other homes
Bull Barn Cottage and Herdsman Cottage: 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom cottages, completely renovated and cozy adjacent to the Dairy Community Centre. Ideal for those who want to be closer to the town
Donald Ross Trail: Large stately brick home in the Sheep Meadow neighborhood. More of a formal feel, ideal for larger families or groups of friends
River Farm: Beautifully renovated arts and crafts home on half a mile of private river access and 80 acres to explore. 5 bedrooms, one particularly wonderful for children
Overlook Manor: Historic English Manor house in Sheep Meadow. 5 bedrooms including fun bunk room for the children
Linkhorn: Simple 3 bedroom family style home
Handpicked at Homestead Preserve is perfect for family getaways and most of the cottages lend themselves very well to family groups. River Farm, Overlook Manor, Linkhorn and Trailview Cottage work particularly well for families. The Dairy Community Centre has an outdoor pool and games room that the children will love.
The Dairy Community Centre has an outdoor pool, games room, fitness center, sauna and hot tub for the exclusive use of guests staying in the private homes. There is also a Milk Bar next door which offers a selection of gourmet sandwiches and snacks and some grocery items.

This area is perfect for outdoor experiences and being outdoors is it's biggest pull. Enjoy guided fishing on the Jackson River where Natural Retreats outfitters have exclusive rights to guide on the estate and also to 2 additional miles of privately owned banks of the Jackson River just a few miles north of the retreat. For already keen fishers, rods, reels and tackle are available to rent to use on two and a half miles of exclusive river. Kayaks are available to rent for kayaking 17 miles of gentle flow on the Lower Jackson River with a shuttle service to get guests to and from the river. Enjoy beautiful hiking trails from easy 4 mile loops through to multi day challenging routes through the Shenandoah Mountain region. Guides are available if required.
Other adventure opportunities available nearby include mountain biking in the Douthat State Park, horseback riding on over 200 miles of land, and golfing on the Homestead’s two courses that have hosted the PGA Tour.

When to go
Handpicked at Homestead Preserve is open year round so whatever the weather you can enjoy a visit to this beautiful area.
The most popular time to visit is between May and October when the weather is warmer to enjoy the many outdoor activities on offer. Spring brings wildflowers and the snow thaw from April to May then from June to August the temperatures rise and the whole area comes alive. Outdoor life abounds and lakes are there to be messed around on. September and October brings spectacular Fall colors to the region, a perfect time for walking and bundling up in front of a roaring fire on chillier evenings.
