The Parker Palm Springs is a resort that brings together a quirky, retro design making it an ideal escape from the mundane. With 13 acres of landscaped gardens it creates a palm fringed oasis.
The flamboyant ‘hippy-chic’ design by Jonathan Adler produces an interesting effect; a place that doesn’t do conformity and in that sense it makes it stand out – this does mean that it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. Palm Springs was the place the Hollywood crowd partied in the 1950s and 60s, and the Parker Palm Springs certainly brings back the magic. A world away from Los Angeles, Palm Springs offers the perfect 2 or 3 day escape with desert hikes, spas and golf. With a tongue-in-cheek attitude the Parker certainly offers something unique, refreshing and fun.
The grounds are outstanding and we particularly like the outdoor fire-pit and lemonade stand, there are countless nooks and crannies to explore. The 144 rooms maximize low key white colors and light wooden overtones, with the fixtures and fittings that reflect the overall eccentric Adler design.
The Palm Springs Yacht Club (their spa) offers 16,500 square foot of space complete with indoor swimming pools, saunas, three Jacuzzis, steam and therapy rooms offering massages, facials, body, hydrotherapy sessions, personal trainers, tai chi, Pilates and finally yoga classes. It’s quite a spa.
The two restaurants, Norma’s and Mister Parker’s are totally unique. Norma’s offers breakfast and comfort food all day, whilst Mister Parker’s is the place to dress up and be prepared for its dark, seductive undertones.
Guestrooms and Suites at The Parker could only be described as luxurious, yet laid back. Boasting a boho-chic that has been executed brilliantly to achieve a real high-end feel, the rooms provide a tranquil haven for guests seeking solace from the famous Palm Springs sunshine. Colorful and quirky, couples will love the romantic feel of the Patio rooms as there is a secluded patio area.
Families will love he deluxe rooms, which feature twin beds, or the Lanai Rooms which open out onto the poolside.
The facilities at The Parker Palm Springs include two restaurants 'Norma' and 'Mister Parkers', a Spa, four clay tennis courts a fitness center, and two pools.

Considering The Parker is right off the main 111 road into Palm Springs its surprisingly quiet and tranquil. Large doors lead you into a slightly eclectic lobby area with bright splashes of color, quirky furnishings and a light embossed sign saying Drugs (apparently a remnant from a nearby pharmacy that was rescued). There is a buzz in the air, this has a young feel, a certain vibe, yet also feels a little like youve walked into somebodys own home and theyre about to have a rather lovely and exclusive party. I didnt stay here, however, as we walked through I felt myself longing to have a little longer to explore the nooks and crannies. I loved the hanging chairs in the comfy lounge surrounding a fire. Even more so the gardens you intermittently came across, some with hammocks, some with petanque lanes, some with comfy chairs around fire pits, ready for evening to fall and lively chatter to commence around them. There are two pools, one of which is family friendly if you head here with the children and the other just dedicated to the adult guests. The family pool is set in a cluster of poolside rooms which would be ideal for families as they have 24 hour access to the pool, perfect for water babies. Further along my walk we reached the lemonade stand. A quirky little booth set up for just that, lemonade, conversation and a few nibbles too. I get the feeling this is quite a social place, attracting like minded people who are here to enjoy the sunshine and social scene of the Palm Springs area. Next I reached the spa, known as the PS Yacht Club. Here you can indulge in a large variety of indulgent treatments or simply hang out by the indoor pool, in the hot tub or in the ever so tranquil meditation room. After all this, I almost throw myself into one of the hammocks and refuse to leave. I havent seen the rooms (theyre full this evening although it doesnt seem it) but that seems not to matter, I like this little menagerie of intriguing gems. Just a passing comment as we pass the lively and buzzing restaurant, they serve breakfast all day you know? Yes, that seems fitting for here, breakfast any time, that just about sums it up.
