Average time to visit
From June to September, the entire park is accessible, all visitor facilities are open and Yosemite is at its busiest.
Crowds are smallest in winter but road closures (most notably of Tioga Rd, but also of Glacier Point Rd beyond Badger Pass Ski Area) mean that activity is concentrated in the valley and on Badger Pass. Visitor facilities are scaled down to a bare minimum and most campgrounds are closed and other lodging options limited. Winter in Yosemite starts with the first heavy snowfall, which can be as early as October, and often lasts until May.
Spring and fall are the nicest times to visit Yosemite. In May and June, the park’s waterfalls - fed by the snowmelt - are at their most spectacular, while late August to October bring fewer people, a rainbow of Fall foliage and crisp, clear weather. Waterfalls, however, have usually slowed to a trickle by that time.

Nestled in the woods the hotel doesn't stand out from the outside but is a really pleasant treat inside. Recently renovated the entrance is cosy and welcoming. The hotel feels resort like, and may not be for everyone but a great choice for families and children who don't want the self catering experience. We advise booking the hotel restaurants in advance as there are only three and the hotel has a lot of rooms.
Get your zip on! Line 1 starts with a gentle introduction to ziplining, and by line 6 you'll be flying along 1000 feet of line above tree tops and the sierra foothills. Your guide will take you on a 2-hour adventure above Mariposa's beautiful countryside.
