Offering luxurious accommodation options, from spacious guest rooms to lavish suites, guests will be truly spoiled with delicate Moroccan inspired designs, plush furnishings and decadent amenities. Celebrity designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard has made fantastic use of the Spanish revival architecture to ensure the hotel oozes with historic charm as well as modern opulence. Custom-made fixtures and wall-coverings drape the hotel, creating a unique atmosphere reminiscent of old Spain combined with a modern day California beach town.
A place to see and be seen, Hotel Californian offers a signature Mediterranean restaurant featuring the farm-to-table cuisine that Santa Barbara is so well known for. Sleek in design with bright and bold palettes, the restaurant remains unpretentious and is perfect for families to relax around the dinner table after a day spent in the sunshine.
Guestrooms and suites at the Hotel Californian mix traditional Spanish/Moroccan style with contemporary design. Featuring large plush King beds, marble vanities and gourmet snack bars and cocktail carts, the rooms have a true luxury feel. Each type of accommodation perfectly blends in with the rest of the hotel and is tastefully decorated with custom-made furnishings, bronze bath fittings and premium artwork.
Hotel Californian offers high-end facilities for the luxury traveler. The Spa, Majorelle, is a tranquil haven, lavished with white drapes, where guests can seek relaxation and experience impeccable service and personalized treatments. There is also a rooftop pool boasting panoramic ocean views.
There are two dining options; a more relaxed setting can be found at the Goat Tree, offering all day cafe dining. The Blackbird is slightly more upscale, but remains casual in atmosphere.

When to go
The coastal climate of Santa Barbara is always a enjoyable surprise to the first-time visitor. This is particularly true during the winter months – roughly from October through March. Santa Barbara is a "get out in the sunshine and fresh air" place, with all the activities that it implies. A short drive into the Santa Ynez Wine Region (some 40-minutes out of town) the temperature is always around 10 degrees warmer without the ocean breezes.
Towering mountains, very close to the sea, shelter the coastal strip from inland heat and cold. The result is a comfortable year-round average temperature of 64 degrees, with an average maximum of 74 and an average minimum of 56 degrees.
All this means there is no "off-season" in Santa Barbara with sunshine all year round but the warmest months without morning fog and with higher temperatures July through October are often the best months.
