Average time to visit
Los Angeles has a year-round climate. Santa Monica enjoys moderate to warm temperatures, averaging 20 to 25 most of the year. Summer (June - September) is the peak-tourist season, this is when the weather is hottest but beaches can be over crowded. January and February are the rainiest months. If you are visiting in May, June or July, watch out for the 'marine layer', a cloudy overcast, almost fog-like cloud which may affect the beach and first mile or so of the coastal strip, especially in the mornings.

Located on the heart of Santa Monica on Wilshire Boulevard is the historic 1920s-era Fairmont Miramar, a beach-front resort hotel with signature fig tree and elegantly manicured lawns, swimming pool and ocean view rooms and bungalows.
This historic Santa Monica property is perched above Santa Monica Beach and frequently draws celebrity guests to Los Angeles' elite seaside neighborhood. Inside the gates, the lobby's polished marble floors and manicured grounds evoke the grand 19th century mansion that once stood here, and was the hotel's original building.
The elegant entrance lobby has lovely spacious seating with chess and checkers board on the coffee tables and provides a perfect place to relax and have a drink or a quick nibble while the children play board games.
Families are particularly well catered for at the Fairmont Miramar. The Miramar Beach club offers a private area on the beach, and provides complimentary games and activities including beach volleyball, boogie boards and buckets and pails for children. Yellow and white striped parasols decorate the sprawling beach, where the Beach Butler serves snacks and drinks and complimentary towels as standard. Feel like a celebrity while being escorted to and from the beach in the hotel's open top Jeep Wrangler.
The rooms here are spacious and spread out over three main buildings, the bungalows, a six-storey Palisades wing and a 10-storey tower building built in 1956. This unique combination of room types and bungalows allow many tastes and styles to be catered for. The bungalows are fantastic for young and multi-generational families and feature exquisite rooms with French doors that open onto private patios. We recommend rooms in the ten-storey Ocean Tower with spectacular view of the Pacific and Santa Monica Beach. The six-storey Palisades wing has more traditional rooms with less of the wow-factor. All of the rooms have a personal touch and offer a unique experience in the premier Santa Monica destination.
302 elegant guest rooms and suites offer a unique choice of experience within the property and great amenities. The ten-storey Ocean Tower reveals spectacular views of the Pacific and Santa Monica Beach, while the six-storey historical Palisades wing has traditional guest rooms with decor and design that reflect the exterior of the historic Palisades building.
The bungalows, located in the beautiful Miramar Gardens, were built between 1920 and 1946 and are unique in design and emphasize the relaxed comfort of Southern California style living. They offer a living room with a sofa bed upstairs and a king bedroom located on the lower level.
Nestled among tropical flowers, palm trees and tranquil waterfalls, the 32 luxurious secluded garden bungalows are ideal for families and feature spacious rooms with French doors that open onto private patios. Finally, Bungalow One is a customized three-bedroom suite ideal for those seeking a larger contemporary beach-side oasis.
