Homer Spit juts out into the waters of Kachemak Bay on the southwestern edge of Alaska's Kenai Peninsula and looks out over the spectacular Kenai Mountain Range and splendour of the glaciers that grace its slopes. Miles of beach lay stretched out just steps from the resort and a small harbor from where sightings of otters, seals, whales and eagles are common. The bay is regarded as one of the world's best destinations for halibut fishing and salmon is also abundant here. The sheltered coves and lagoons make this a beautiful spot for ocean kayaking and wildlife cruises can be arranged to observe sparkling glaciers and large colonies of migrating whales, including humpback, minke, beluga and orcas. The rugged landscape also provides an ideal playground for hiking, horse riding and even flight-seeing tours from which the views are unbelievable.
Following long days of adventures and high-energy activities, the spa offers a serene environment for relaxation and an extensive treatment menu to select from. The Chart Room Restaurant & Lounge occupies a beautiful waterfront location and boasts an expansive deck from which to enjoy views of the bay as you dine. Everything is catered for, from breakfast right through to late evening cocktails and the menu features plenty of local seafood, freshly caught from the surrounding waters.
Most of the rooms and suites at Land's End Resort benefit from stunning views across the bay and many have a deck from which to enjoy them further. All rooms have Satellite TV, complimentary WiFi, coffee making facilities, microwaves and private bathrooms. The Lodges are spacious and enjoy outdoor decks with direct beach access, full kitchens and some of the best sunrises and sunsets over the mountains. Lodges are all spacious and a great option for families, the largest of which can accommodate up to 6 guests.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and drinks are all served at the Chart Room Restaurant & Lounge, a popular local dining spot with a stunning oceanfront location and outdoor deck from which to soak in the views whilst you eat. Food includes plenty of fresh local seafood and a range of popular local and international dishes are served.
Facilities also include a full-service spa with an extensive treatment menu and a fitness center with a pool, sauna and a hot tub which sits outside on a deck and boasts stunning views of the bay.
There are plenty of adventures to be enjoyed right on your doorstep at Land's End Resort. Homer is known as the halibut fishing capital of the world and the protected waters of Kachemak Bay make for a boat-friendly destination. Salmon fishing is also fantastic here and both deep-sea fishing and fly-fishing is offered at the resort. Land's End Resort is perched spectacularly on the very tip of Homer Spit on the southwestern edge of the Kenai Peninsula. Kachemak Bay surrounds the spit, the entrance to a miles-long fjord.
How to get there
Flight to Anchorage via Seattle (approx. 16 hours), followed by a scenic drive along the Seward Highway for approx. 5 hours, passing through a national forest, moose preserve and coastal mountain pass. We recommend allowing longer for your drive so you can enjoy the virewpoints along the way. You can also fly to Homer should you prefer which takes 45 minutes and also passes impressive scenery.
