When it comes to location, The Westin Resort & Spa in Whistler takes some beating. Access to the incredible skiing that Whistler is renowned for could not be easier, as the hotel is literally at the base of both the Whistler and Blackcomb gondolas which whisk skiers up the mountain in minutes. The children's ski school is only 20m from the hotel, making it perfect for families with younger children. And just a few steps from the hotel brings you to the very heart of Whistler village, with its extensive range of bars, restaurants and shops.
Uniquely composed of 419 suites, which have all recently been updated, the great thing about this hotel is that all the rooms have full and well-equipped kitchens, which is particularly useful for families. Couple that with the outstanding on-site facilities: magnificent spa, large gym, indoor and outdoor pools, pizza oven, ski rental shop, restaurant and bar and you'll barely need to leave the hotel! But of course you must, as Whistler has so much to offer. The skiing is world class and the resort is, of course, best known for hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics. There are a multitude of activities to get involved in away from the slopes: zip trekking, snow tubing, dog sledding, heliskiing - try and fit in as many as you can as it's definitely worth it.
Dining is an equally important pass time and the on-site Grill & Vine restaurant serves up classic North American dishes with a firm commitment to using fresh ingredients sourced from local farmers. FireRock Lounge is the ideal spot for some après drinks and snacks to share.
Each suite features a full kitchen with granite worktops, a welcoming gas fireplace, LCD flat screen TV, queen sofa bed, and the trademark Westin "Heavenly Bed". All bathrooms have an inviting deep soaker tub.
Amenities for children include cots, highchairs, playpens and even a stroller available upon request.

Approximately 76 - 95m² sleeping up to 8. The largest of the two bedroom suites, comprising of a Deluxe Studio Suite with an inter-connecting door to the One Bedroom Suite. Features two fireplaces, three 32" LCD flat screen TVs, two full bathrooms and two kitchens. Ideal for families wanting the comfort of home with plenty of space and bedding options.

Approximately 70m², sleeping up to 6. Features two separate bedrooms with a queen or king bed in the master bedroom and a queen in the second bedroom. Full kitchen with dining table for four, two full bathrooms and three 32"LCD flat screen TVs. The living room has a gas fireplace and a queen sofa bed.
|Penthouse Mountain Suite||
Approximately 143 - 150m², sleeping up to 10. This two bedroom and den suite is the ultimate in luxury accommodation. Sprawling over two levels, the living room features high vaulted ceilings with a vast custom designed kitchen with granite counter tops and a dining table that seats up to six and a queen sofa bed in the living room. Each suite contains its own washer and dryer, two gas fireplaces, four 32" LCD flat screen TVs and three separate bathrooms. The first level bedroom offers a Queen 'Heavenly' bed and its own en-suite and the den contains a queen sofa bed. The second level features a magnificent master bedroom with a King-size 'Heavenly' bed, jacuzzi soaker tub, gas fireplace and en-suite. There is also a loft which can be used as a separate sleeping area with a queen-size pull out sofa bed.
On-site dining options at this hotel consist of Grill & Vine, a classic grill-style restaurant with its own wood stone pizza oven, serving classic North American fare with a heavy focus on local ingredients. FireRock Lounge has a laid back atmosphere for a spot of après with some delicious 'sharing plates and there are kids menus available.
The Avello spa has 24 treatment areas with an extensive menu of treatments and its focal point is the magnificent river rock fireplace. Those wishing to workout are well catered for in the WestinWORKOUT gym with its excellent range of fitness equipment.
The skiing at Whistler is incredible with over 200 marked runs, 8,171 acres of terrain, 16 alpine bowls and three glaciers. Whistler and Blackcomb are two side-by-side mountains which are linked by the Peak 2 Peak gondola which is well worth experiencing.

When to go
British Columbia benefits from some of the most regular and the deepest snowfalls anywhere in the world. The average seasonal snowfall at 1600m (5000 feet) is a spectacular 25 meters (75 feet), four or five times the average in most areas of the Alps. Winter temperatures average about 0°C during the day and -6°C overnight in the village with snow typically on the ground from Dec into April. Summers days can be quite warm, with temperatures reaching the high 20s.
