Atop the Gaspe Peninsula, a stay at Chic Chocs Mountain Lodge gives a true insight in to the beauty and wilderness of this beautiful part of Quebec. There is no mobile phone reception, no TV or WiFi up here, it is a total away from it all experience designed to get you back to nature and all the exhilarating experiences that it offers.
You are by no means roughing it here though. The cosy lodge rooms offer wonderfully comfortable beds with en-suite bathrooms and some offer balconies with stunning mountain views. The large guest lounge makes the most of the views with panoramic winters and comfy sofas, perfect for relaxing in with a good book or bottle of wine.
Meals are a sociable affair with large tables for guests to sit down at and enjoy delicious meals in the company of their other guests. This is an animated time where talk turns to the days adventures, wildlife sightings or what is in store the next day.
Days are spent exploring one of the many walking trails which are offered for all abilities, heading off on a mountain bike exploration of the wilderness, heading off in search of wildlife (this is a great place for moose spotting) or simply relaxing in the outdoor hot tub and enjoying the sound of mountain silence.
In winter the lodge is still accessible although harder to reach and involves the last 5 miles of the journey up to be taken by "snow cat". Once there though, the pristine winter wonderland is a delight and opens up a whole world of snow based activities including alpine touring, snow shoeing and lesser known skitouring and splitboarding.
