Just a 2 hour drive from Toronto and 10 minutes from the charming town of Port Carling, perfect for local shopping and dining, Sherwood Inn is the perfect spot to explore this beautiful region. Tucked away at the end of the road, it is peaceful and secluded, with direct lake frontage to make the most of the stunning Muskoka Lakes region.
The inn offers a personal and welcoming feel. Guests often gather to chat or relax in the comfortable "Muskoka" chairs surrounding the fire pit by the entrance, or find a quiet secluded place within the grounds to simply sit, and read, or doze the days away.
Sherwood Inn really does offer an away from it all experience, yet with easy access to the whole region and still so close to the city. It is the perfect bolthole to hideaway together for a few days. The cottages, scattered through the gardens are the perfect choice, with two of them, Robinwood and Edgewood, having their own private dock to dangle your feet off into the crystal clear lake waters. The Boathouse suite is very private and a favorite with honeymooners due to its stunning views of Lake Joseph. All the suites also offer an open fire for cooler evenings, a lovely romantic extra.
With a cosy lounge to relax in, fine dining in Vintages restaurant and a charming little spa complete with hot tub, you would be forgiven for not wishing to stray too far from the inn during your stay. However, an exploration of the lakes is highly recommended, either by car or take to the water by boat or canoe and explore the quiet coves and tranquility of this pretty area.
Guests rooms are either in the main building of the inn, the Maplewood building or in individual cottages in the grounds. We recommend the cottages for the most privacy and best experience. The six cottages are set in the grounds and offer either one bedroom or two bedroom configurations. Two cottages feature their own private deck leading out over the water.
The Boathouse suite is directly over the Sherwood Inn boathouse and offers glorious views of Lake Joseph. It offers a separate lounge and bedroom.
All of the cottages feature an open fireplace or stove and either a porch or private dock. All rooms are en suite and offer a 32 inch TV, air conditioning, bathrobes, coffee maker and WiFi internet access. Some cottages have small cottages have small kitchenettes (no stoves).
Children are welcome to come and stay at Sherwood Inn although there are no particular facilities available for them. Some cottages offer two bedrooms so would be ideal for a family traveling together.
Inside the main inn is a cosy bar and lounge with an open fireplace, perfect for reading on cooler days or in the evening. Vintages restaurant has been recently renovated and looks over Lake Joseph. On warm evenings they will often set up for al fresco dining in the gardens. The inn also boasts an extensive wine cellar with over 2000 bottles ranging from Australia to Bordeaux.
There is a small spa offering a range of treatments as well as a hot tub and relaxation area for spa guests use. There is also a small fitness center.
