Seal River Heritage Lodge, located 60 beautiful kilometers by air from Churchill, will be your home away from home for this exciting week. Known as the Polar Bear and Beluga Whale Capital of the World, this area is also the best place to see large congregations of beluga whales as thousands of them calve in the protection of the Hudson Bay each summer. Both bears and whales, along with the thousands of birds, will be in your backyard - literally.
Aside from the belugas and polar bears, you'll have the opportunity to see a whole host of other wildlife on this trip such as caribou, fox (red and Arctic), wolves, moose and birds galore (such species as ptarmigan, Smith's Longspur, Ross' and Bonaparte gulls, jaegers, et cetera). In fact, birders could see 100 species over the course of their adventure. Also keep your ears open for the sounds of other sub-Arctic wildlife, including wolves howling in the distance.
Seal River Lodge offers ground level photo opportunities for Arctic wildlife including polar bears, Beluga whale watching in the Hudson Bay, and swimming with belugas. This summer adventure is highly conductive to family participation.
You’ll enjoy wonderful cuisine and wines. We serve the finest food in the Arctic that is featured in the best selling “Blueberries & Polar Bears” cookbooks which were created by renowned chefs Helen Webber & Marie Woolsey.
The itinerary includes 2 nights in Winnipeg and 5 nights at Seal River Heritage Lodge with all meals and activities included in the Seal River stay. Flights between Winnipeg and Seal River are also included
The lodge offers comfortable double, twin and family bedded accommodations complete with en-suite washrooms. The lodge offers 24-hour electricity and gas and wood fired heating keeps it cosy and warm.
The lodge has a cosy main lounge area for guests to enjoy complete with central wood burning stove to ensure a relaxed environment for the evenings. There is also a library with books and maps on the area, a gift shop and a radio and telephone.
The lodge offers panoramic windows, ideal for wildlife viewing as well as a viewing tower to take in the expansive tundra landscape and wilderness.
The food at the lodge is superb with imaginative chefs taking full advantage of local produce and offering delicious cuisine. The food is part of the Seal River Lodge experience.
Included within the package are a fantastic array of activities.
Marine Tours – Tides and weather permitting we will do at least two expeditions by boat to view beluga whales, seals, seabirds, and polar bears.
Trekking/Walking Tours – These are a daily part of the program and they range from short jaunts to photograph a passing caribou perhaps, to day trips with a pack lunch
Coast by Tundra Tracker – See the Hudson Bay coast on our custom made Tundra Tracker. A day trip in one of these vehicles allows us to cover a lot of shoreline while searching out wildlife

Aurora Watching – Yes, you can enjoy the greatest light show on earth in summer especially in the latter part of our season.
Bird Watching – 150 species of birds visit this area and our expert guides can help you locate and identify a wide variety of these – chances are you will add several “lifers” to your book.
