Average time to visit
The best time to visit is typically during the drier, slightly milder months between November and April. The ‘rainy’ season begins in the south around June and runs until November. Although it can be hotter and more humid at this time of year, usually it only rains for a couple of hours before the weather clears. The wettest months tend to be September and October. The Caribbean coast can be affected by the hurricane season, which officially is from June to November.

Accommodation and facilities are spread along the coast and throughout the property, split into three sections. The adults only section (Grand Class) is the perfect choice for couples. All rooms enjoy ocean views and are just steps from the beach, with private terraces and plunge pools. The Ambassador section rooms are perfect for families who want to be close to all of the family facilities, including the swimming pools and kids' clubs. All of the ambassador suites enjoy ocean views but are set back behind the family pools. The final section is set back from the beach and surrounded by jungle, boasting beautiful swimming pools and a tranquil atmosphere. The Zen Grand suites are perfect for relaxation and work well for either families or couples, with spacious suite options and even connecting rooms.
When it comes to dining and unwinding you are spoiled for choice, with eight restaurants, a selection of bars, a spa and fitness center and an array of included and additional activities on offer. Relax with a spot of yoga, take kayaks down from the beach to explore the turquoise waters or simply pull up a lounger and enjoy being waited on. Rooms in this all-suite resort are spread across three sections of the property, each offering a different experience. There are 90 Grand Class Suites which are spread along the beachfront, each boasting a king-size bed, private plunge pool and bathroom with rain shower and Jacuzzi tub. The 195 Ambassador Suites are perfect for families, all within easy reach of the resort's family facilities and enjoying ocean views, while the Zen Grand suites sit surrounded by nature for a more relaxing experience and work for either couples or families.

The Kids Club at Grand Velas is included in your stay and caters to children aged between 4-12. Kids can enjoy daily activities, watch movies and get stuck into arts and crafts. For teenagers, the teens club offers a relaxed environment with video games, pool tables, a bar serving soft drinks and non-alcoholic cocktails, arcade games, karaoke machine and a dance floor. For families traveling with babies, the resort's baby-concierge will take care of your every need, providing high chairs, baby bottle sterilisers, cribs, rattles, bouncers, buggies and baby bath tubs.
