When to go

The best time to visit Mexico is typically during the drier, milder months between November and April. The ‘rainy’ season begins around June and runs until November. Mexico can be affected by hurricanes during this time. Although it can be hotter and more humid at this time of year, usually it only rains for a couple of hours before the weather clears. The wettest months tend to be August, September and October. Mexico has many special offers throughout the year outside of high season. The best of offers are available from May to November. Christmas, New Year, February half term and Easter are considered peak season in Mexico when hotel rates are at their highest and hotels have minimum night stays. At these times, the coastal resorts are very popular indeed and booking well in advance is advisable.

  • The best time to explore the Yucatan Peninsula, with its thriving Mayan villages and archaeological sites, dense jungle teeming with flora and fauna and beautiful ocean-swept sands, is between November and May.
  • Semana Santa (Easter week) is undoubtedly the most important vacation in Mexico, and locals celebrate with elaborate ceremonies, processions and rituals.
