The Viceroy Zihuatanejo, formerly The Tides Zihuatenejo, features beautiful rooms and suites set in adobe-style villas amongst lush vegetation with coconut trees and colorful hibiscus. No two accommodations are alike - twisted tree trunks hold aloft a tile roof in one instance, a private terrace is framed by the fringe of its palm-thatched roof in another. The one and two-bedroom Lagoon Suites, ranging in size from 700-900 sq ft, line a small lagoon. All feature a separate living area and private terrace with an infinity-edge pool.
The Garden Suites, ranging from 1100-1500 sq ft, feature 2 bedrooms, one with a king size bed, the other with a queen bed, each with its own bathroom. The suites have a spacious living room and private terrace with plunge pool and garden views.
The 1 and 2 bedroom Beach Suites, ranging from 700-1100 sq ft, have a spacious, private terrace with ocean views and an infinity-edge plunge pool, double chaise lounge and a huge hammock. The oversized bathroom is furnished with indigenous marble.
The beautiful one-bedroom Penthouse Suites, ranging from 700-900 sq ft, are set up high, affording amazing, sweeping views of Zihuatanejo Bay. They feature an open-air living room and an infinity-edge plunge pool, a canopied king size bed and an amazing indoor-outdoor bathroom.
The 1,465 sq ft Tides Suite has an unrivalled 180-degree view of Zihuatanejo Bay. There are two uniquely designed bedrooms and two bathrooms finished with indigenous marble. The spacious open-air living area features an oversized daybed and two seating areas, making a superb spot for private dining.
Children are accepted at the Viceroy Zihuatanejo, on a request basis. They are only permitted to stay in the Garden and Beach Suites. Babysitting and cots can easily be arranged upon request.
The Viceroy Zihuatanejo has three lovely pools, a fitness center and an intimate spa offering a range of treatments in a tranquil setting, including the signature Lava Shell Therapy. Mexico’s vast Pacific coastline, Viceroy Zihuatanejo sits on the tranquil bay of Playa la Ropa. Tucked above the picturesque fishing village of Zihuatanejo, the hotel is just 4r miles from the resort destination of Ixtapa and 150 miles northwest of Acapulco.
When to go
The rainy summer season lasts from June to October, when it can be very hot and humid. The best month to visit is November, when the surrounding countryside is verdant after the summer rains. January and February is whale-watching season. Come between November and March to see nesting and hatching turtles, from December to March if you want to watch dolphins and whales, or in April to spot giant manta rays.
