November to April are the best months for sunshine. The ‘Green’ season, from May to October, is a good time to visit: it’s sunny in the mornings with rain in the afternoons. The quietest period is April to early June. The rain can be particularly strong in September and October.

Poas Volcano Lodge is a cosy boutique property nestled amongst rolling pastures and lush sub-tropical cloudforest, with spectacular views of Poas Volcano, Braulio Carillo National Park and the northern Caribbean Plains. Accommodation at the lodge is in 11 en-suite rooms and suites. The rooms are decorated in warm tones, with rustic wood and stone features and some have their own private garden whilst others have balconies with views to the volcano..
From the comfort of the living room with its large open fireplace, to the tranquillity of the library and the elegance of the sitting room, it is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the beautiful landscape.
During the morning guests will wake up with the smell of premium coffee and enjoy a unique farmhouse breakfast with fresh home baked breads, jams, cheese, tortillas and fruits. Lots of the food served in the restaurant is produced on the lodge’s own land.
The lodge is the perfect place to start or end a journey around Costa Rica and guests can enjoy a variety of activities, including hikes on the trails around the lodge, and visits to Poas Volcano and Brava National Park, as well as tours to nearby coffee plantations.
Poas Volcano Lodge has five Junior Rooms and six Master Suites, which are divided between the main lodge and the outer buildings. The cosy rooms are decorated in warm tones and feature wood panelling and beams and stone walls.
Children are very welcome at Poas Volcano Lodge and the rooms can comfortably accommodate up to four guests in two beds.
Facilities at Poas Volcano Lodge include an elegant sitting room, a library with an extensive selection of novels and books on local history, geography and local flora and fauna, and a cosy sitting room. Meals are served in the Bromelia restaurant and bar and feature a mix of Costa Rican and European dishes, with much of the produce coming from the lodge's own dairy farm.
Guests at Poas Volcano Lodge can enjoy a variety of activities including hiking on the property's own trails, and visits to Poas Volcano, coffee plantations, Braulio Carillo National Park and Sarchí craft centre.
