Located approximately three hours from the capital of San Jose, Nayara Springs sits in seclusion just outside the town of La Fortuna, in the foothills of the Arenal Volcano. It has been voted best resort in Central and South America by Conde Nast Traveler and it's easy to see why.
Hidden among the tropical forest, the 16 private villas feature their own private plunge pool fed by natural mineral hot springs, an expansive private garden with dual rain showers, oversized bathroom, four-poster bed, and indoor and outdoor sitting areas. Nayara Springs is superb for couples and honeymooners.
Exotic touches, modern amenities and indigenous wood and stone are widely used to produce an unparalleled, authentic and romantic experience. The Springs Villas also come with a private host to compliment the ever-attentive hotel staff.
Facilities at Nayara Springs are superb, including a romantic spa with open-sided massage rooms, yoga pavillion, oversized lap pool and sophisticated piano bar. Cross over the bridge that links Nayara Springs to its sister property Arenal Nayara and there is a second outdoor pool and spa.
Dining options abound at Nayara Springs, guests here have their own pool-side restaurant Amor Loco which is unexpectedly glamorous and makes the most of the hotel's organic vegetable garden as well as fresh seafood. Guests can also dine at any of the restaurants in Arenal Nayara where there is the open-sided Altamira restaurant serving a mix of Costa Rican and international dishes, the Kali Kali pool bar serves snacks and cocktails, Sushi Amor mixes Peruvian and Asian flavors and Nostalgia is a beautiful wine and tapas bar which also offers tasting menus matched with Latin American wines.
This central region of Costa Rica is one of the world’s most topographically diverse and plays host to a range of exciting outdoor activities such as white water rafting, trekking, horseback riding, hot springs, canyoning, rapelling, kayaking, zip wiring and canopy tours as well as Fly Boarding on Lake Arenal.
There are 16 spacious (approx 1,500 sq ft) ultra-private villas scattered around beautiful tropical gardens with private plunge pools fed by natural mineral hot springs and expansive private gardens. The villas feature flat-screen satellite TVs with DVD/CD players, terrace daybeds, a hammock and table and chairs for al fresco dining.
Children 14 years and over are very welcome. Nayara Springs is a serene and exclusive adults only property so for those traveling with younger children then Nayara Springs' family friendly sister hotel Arenal Nayara next door would be our recommendation.
Fitness center, daily yoga or pilates, oversized lap pool, award winning spa, piano lounge and bar, a selection of restaurants – Amor Loco for fine dining, Terrace by the Pool for a light lunch, Altamira Restaurant for smart-casual dining, Sushi Amor for Latin fusion and Nostalgia Wine & Tapas Bar to sample delicious Latin American vintages.
Soar through the rainforest canopy on a zip wire, horse ride to the volcano, release your inner Indiana Jones and walk along hanging bridges high in the jungle canopy and get up close to the native flora and fauna, take an early birdwatching tour and see colorful parrots, toucans and oropendulas gliding through the sky, hike to waterfalls and lagoons and for those interested in nocturnal wildlife head out on a guided night walk.

When to go
November to April is the best time of year to visit Arenal and is the 'drier' season in Costa Rica. The ‘green’ season is from May to September, which sees tropical showers most afternoons. The quietest period is April to early June. The rain can be particularly strong in September and October. December to March is high season and hotels do get booked up months in advance so best to plan early.
