With a warm climate most of the year, the Nicoya Peninsula is known for its great weather. However, during the rainy season from April to November most of the roads can get quite impassable due to rivers washing them out. Mid November trade winds from the north-east arrive, marking the end of the rainy season. The following months these offshore winds, called Papagayo, relieve the heat and provide perfect surf conditions. Sunshine is guaranteed during the high-season months of January - April. During this long and pronounced dry season many trees and shrub drop their leaves which makes it easier to spot animals.
In May a mellow rainy season follows which the tourism industry has dubbed the Green Season.
It's the time of the year preferred by eco-tourists as nature is verdant green, sunsets multi-hued, and many hotels offer low season rates.

Each comes with a large private patio with outdoor shower, hammock and seating area, A/C and ceiling fans, refrigerator and mini bar, coffee maker and complimentary local coffee and Wi Fi access.
The 14 bungalows are located around the gardens, thirteen are 55 sq m in size, and also a two-bedroom suite of around 110 sq m. Each bungalow has a large private deck with outdoor shower, hammock, seating area, a/c, fan, coffee maker and Wi-Fi access.

Surf is up! The beach is gorgeous and great for long strolls or an early morning run. This is the perfect place to be if you enjoy a good surf session, a yoga class or a rejuvenating smoothie. This place is pretty low key, and rooms are more basic as the focus here is on wellbeing and connecting with natures surroundings. I loved the outdoor shower at my little terrace and the small quiver of complimentary firewire surfboards had exactly what I was looking for. Fun waves for beginners and world class surf for the more experienced surfers. Food is healthy and organic, and I loved the complimentary yoga class followed by the most delicious quinoa biscuit for breakfast.
It’s all about catching the perfect wave at this surf-centric hideaway devoted to 'low key glamour and total escape.' Air and water hover around 80 degrees year round, locals include ospreys, armadillos and howler monkeys which double as island alarm clocks. For the novice, nearby surf schools – like Corky Carroll’s – abound.
ATV Surf Trip to the North
