Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.

One of my personal favorites on the island. From the moment you step into the hotel you are warmly greeted not only by the hotel staff but also by the resident dog Shadow IV, a friendly black Labrador!
The service is impeccable here and as the hotel has been open since 1950, many of the staff have been working for a number of years and are incredibly proud . I loved all the rooms at the hotel; the cottages have their own plunge pools and veranda suites have spacious living rooms outside making it the perfect place to sit and relax on. The hotel has a croquet lawn to enjoy, a few water sports and a pool to swim in. The beach is beautiful and each day you can enjoy a complimentary drink from your sun bed. A lovely hotel offering a true Jamaican experience.

Jamaica Inn was our first port of call on our exciting trip along the North Coast of the island. It is in a great location to go out and about to explore the Ochos Rios area, which offers lots of attractions for everyone, some are more commercial than others, especially Dunns River Falls. We stayed in a Verandah room - (number 20) which was close to the main amenities of the resort, but over looking the water and was lovely to watch sunset each day on our large balcony. The breakfast each day was amazing and it is customary to feed the fish afterwards. The service and attention to detail is second to none. It is a colonial style property and you can experience afternoon tea on the lawn each day. We certainly were not in a rush to leave Jamaica Inn, as they made you feel very welcome.

As I arrived I was greeted warmly by the owner. Something that really sets this hotel apart is the personal service from everyone who works here. The hotel has been open since 1950 and many of the team here have been here for a long time and have a great passion for guests to enjoy their hotel.
I was particularly wowed by the space of the suites that extends onto the veranda with big sofas and the over water suite, definitely one for honeymooners! The Cottages here are fabulous for families, well equipped and with a terrace allows access directly into the sea, very unusual for the Caribbean hotels.
The spa I thought was absolute heaven, open air overlooking the perfectly blue sea and the breeze streaming in. All the products used are organic and homemade using ingredients such as coffee, guava and cucumber.

Jamaica Inn has to enjoy one of the best beach locations in Jamaica located just 2 miles from Ocho Rios. The hotel is painted in this adorable Wedgewood blue color which blends perfectly with its tropical surroundings. The rooms are set in a horseshoe shape overlooking an immaculate lawn, swimming pool and an aquamarine lagoon and decorated with four-poster beds and Jamaican antiques that reflect the colonial roots here. The Premier Veranda Suites in particular are my favorite offering a glorious outdoor veranda just feet from the sea and 180-degree ocean views. A perfect place to enjoy breakfast and gaze adoringly at the Caribbean sea all day long. A stroll down the beach just as the sun is going down over the lagoon is not to be missed. Evening continues at this blissful, laid-back pace, with candlelit meals of jerk pork and grilled mahi mahi fish served on the restaurant terrace with some gentle Caribbean music in the background. This is a hotel that provides intimacy as well as character in spades. Jamaica Inn is a shining light amid Jamiacas many mega resorts. The staff are friendly but un intrusive and the location completely wonderful.
