One of the Caribbean’s original luxury hotels with its fantastic location on a private peninsula on Antigua’s southern shore, with the relatively calm Caribbean on one side and the wilder Atlantic on the other. Curtain Bluff is renowned for its exemplary level of service; impressive sporting facilities and of course the wine cellar, which is home to 450 wines from around the world!
The hotel offers seventy-two stylish rooms and suites with large terraces or balconies. The Deluxe Rooms, Junior Suites and One Bedroom Suites are just steps from the beach while the Executive Rooms and Suites are up a number of steps on the bluff offering superb views of the stunning beach and ocean. There is an elegant open-air main restaurant for all meals as well as the Beach Club for lunch and refreshments during the day. The cuisine is continental with a local blend of Caribbean flavors and a different dinner menu each evening. There is also a weekly beach party luncheon and nightly entertainment.
For the active, sporting facilities include tennis and squash courts, a huge array of water sports as well as complimentary yoga classes. For those who want to take time out, there is a fantastic new Spa situated on the bluff overlooking the water with treatments to help you relax and rejuvenate complete with an open air lounge and plunge pool for pre or post treatment.
There is a complimentary children's club here with a fully qualified English Nursery Nurse and activities are exciting and creative, rather than centerd around a play room.
Curtain Bluff has 72 spacious guest rooms and suites that run along the palm-shaded, white-sand Surf Beach and rise up the rocky promontory that gives the resort its name. It features 18 Deluxe Rooms, 5 Executive Deluxe Rooms, 40 Junior Suites, 1 Terrace Room with Jacuzzi, 6 Executive One and Two Bedroom Suites, and 2 Grace and Morris Bay Suites. Rooms follow a simple yet elegant tropical style, have floor-to-ceiling windows and either ground floor balconies or verandahs with breathtaking oceanic views, complete with all the modern luxuries from air-conditioning and over-sized Jacuzzi baths to wood-panelled ceilings, and high-speed Internet.
Deluxe Rooms are a short walk down a shaded pathway from the bar and restaurant. 9 rooms are on the beach level, with spacious terraces that lead straight out on to the sand, and 9 have verandahs looking out over the sand and sea to the distant headland. All have contemporary dark-wood furniture, white bedcovers and colorful accents that evoke the colors of the sea.
Junior Suites are spread through three-storey villas right on the resort’s Surf Beach, just a stone’s throw from the water. All have sunken living rooms and separate bedrooms with elegant sea-grass sofas and armchairs, accented with rich blues and greens that mirror the colors outside. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors lead on to verandahs and terraces looking out over the sea, palms and lushly forested shoreline.
The grand marble-and white-tile bathrooms have double sinks, big tubs and large, open-walled showers.
|One Bedroom Grace Bay & Morris Bay Suite||
These suites occupy the third floor of a Caribbean-style villa, right on the resort’s surf beach. Both are luxuriously furnished with blue-marble bathrooms, colonial furniture, richly colored fabrics and lush palms. The bedroom and adjoining living room lead out on to a sweeping verandah with sun-chairs and a Jacuzzi, the perfect place for private sunbathing or cocktails under the stars.
The suites can be linked to a Junior Suite to create a two-bedroom suite. Extended groups and families can take over the whole floor (four bedrooms).
Set into the rocky edge of the bluff, their spacious terraces look out over both the sea and the resort’s Surf Beach. Rooms are decorated with natural-wood and sea-grass furniture and bright, natural colors.
These can be combined with an Executive Suite, creating the perfect space for two couples or a family.
|One Bedroom Bluff Suite||
Overlooking the Surf Beach but a few steps higher up the bluff, these are more private and secluded. Their split-level interiors are light and airy, decorated with natural-wood and sea-grass furniture and bright, natural colors. Alongside the large living room, there is a sun-drenched garden patio with a hammock. Upstairs there is a breakfast nook and a 16-foot-wide dining terrace that make the most of the panoramic views.
The unique Terrace room is the most popular choice for honeymooners thanks to its private location at the very top of the bluff and breathtaking views over the beach, Morris Bay and the Caribbean Sea. White walls, bright sea-blue fabrics, one-of-a-kind furnishings and glowing woods give the room a sense of calm and timeless sophistication. Its large 567-square-foot terrace with an elevated Jacuzzi is the ideal spot for private relaxation and dining.

When to go
Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.
