To start planning your vacation to Silversea Silver Cloud
A journey around Antarctica on board Silversea's elegant Silver Cloud is bound to be unforgettable. This is the most luxurious vessel to cruise the Antarctic Peninsula and offers a perfect introduction to expedition cruising for those who prefer not to sacrifice a few home comforts. The cruise is all-inclusive, including gratuities, room service, selected premium spirits and wines and gourmet dining, meaning you don't have to worry about a thing whilst on board.
The Silver Cloud begins each journey in Ushuaia, South America's southernmost city, and travels for 10 days through the spectacularly barren landscapes which provide a habitat for much of the white continent's wildlife. Spot whales, gentoo penguins and elephant seals as you explore these ice cold waters on a series of Zodiac excursions, accompanied by highly specialized guides to ensure you get the most out of your experience. You will have opportunities to head on shore to get up close to some of the wildlife and there will also be optional educational lectures on board in the evenings to give a more in-depth insight into the geography and biology of the region.
The ship itself is extremely spacious and offers all-suite accommodation. All of the suites boast large picture windows so guests can always be sure to enjoy the best views whether in their cabin, in the restaurants or in the observation lounge. Le Champagne is the only Relais & Chateaux restaurant at sea and features delicious fine dining dishes, while there are also more casual dining options on board too. For those who need some time at leisure, there are plenty of options on board, with facilities including a pool, Jacuzzi, fitness center, beauty salon and spa.
Each of the suite cabins has large picture windows to maximize your views as you cruise through the dramatic Antarctic scenery. Marble ensuite bathrooms with showers feature in all suites, along with luxurious bed linens, plush bathrobes and slippers, Bvlgari bath amenities, flatscreen TVs and a pillow menu. Many suites also have their own furnished private terrace which can be reached through floor to ceiling glass doors and all come with personalized butler service.
Facilities include a pool, Jacuzzi, fitness center, spa and beauty salon. There is an on board theater too, which is used for evening lectures which focus on Antarctica and its wildlife. Dining on board is a treat, with Le Champagne being the only Relais & Chateaux restaurant at sea. There are three other dining options too, as well as a bar for evening drinks. An observation lounge is the perfect spot for enjoying the views.
Guided Zodiac excursions and tours on land and sea are led by highly trained expedition specialists to marvel at the Antarctic scenery and observe the specially adapted wildlife which lives in this harsh environment.

When to go
Antarctic weather is a lesson in extremes. Antarctica is the world’s coldest, windiest and driest continent. During the summer months the winds abate considerably and the weather is surprisingly comfortable, averaging between 20 and 50F. Summertime also means 18-24 hours of sunlight which allows life to flourish for a brief summer period. Long days also allow extensive exploration by small ship cruise to Antarctica. Antarctic weather allows for a short season of cruising from November to March each year.
