Professional guides in Zimbabwe are amongst the most highly trained in Africa and will ensure you have a truly memorable safari experience
Mana Pools has a moderate to sub-tropical climate with three distinct seasons: from November to March is the Emerald, or the rainy season, April to July is Zimbabwe's winter, when the weather is cool and dry, and August to October is summer, when the weather is hot and dry. In terms of game viewing, the dryer months, meaning a higher concentration of game at the permanent water sources, are a superb time to visit. Alternatively come for some superb birdwatching at the end of the rains.
Enjoy the adventure of a lifetime as you take to the waters of the mighty Zambezi on the Ruwesi Canoe Trail. Paddling to a different camp each night accompanied by a professional guide, this is the ultimate opportunity to get off the beaten track.
The Ruwesi Canoe Trail is a three night safari which will see you paddle down the Zambezi staying at different mobile camps each night, staying in remote locations and enjoying some truly breath-taking wildlife encounters whilst out on the river - this is a totally unique opportunity to explore Mana Pools.
If you're looking for adventure, excitement and incredible game viewing then the Ruwesi Canoe Trail is hard to beat. No prior canoeing experience is necessary and all safaris are run by a professional guide, who are trained to the highest standards. Whilst activities are focused on canoeing down the Zambezi it is also possible to go on bush walks which allow you the chance to track wildlife and learn more about the smaller aspects of the bush, as well as seeing some wonderful big game sightings if you're lucky. Game drives are also on offer which will allow you to cover larger distances and often on evening drives enjoy some impressive predator sightings.
The Ruwesi Canoe Trail camps are relatively basic and the focus is very much on the experience of canoeing and wildlife viewing, but the tents are perfectly comfortable. All of the tents are walk-in and measure 3 metres x 3 metres and all the beds have proper frames, mattresses and linen bedding. The tents are all en-suite with a bucket shower and flush loo. Camp assembly and disassembly is done by a team of camp staff and all that is required of you is to pack your personal belongings each day. Dinner is served under the stars each night usually to a soundtrack of snorting hippos, as you share stories of your day's adventure out on the Zambezi.
The tents used on the Ruwesi Canoe Trail measure 3 metres by 3 metres and are walk-in with proper bed frames, mattresses and linen and an en-suite bathroom with flush loo and bucket shower.
The focus on the Ruwesi Canoe Trail is of course the canoeing but it is also possible to go on bush walks and game drives in Mana Pools to offer a truly varied game viewing experience.
