Description

Mapazi Camp is purely a walking safari camp offering set departure dates and three nights in total to offer a truly unforgettable experience. Deb has over twenty years guiding experience where she has spent plenty of time in the bush guiding and walking. You will spend time tracking big game, finding and watching some incredible birdlife and be privy to some of nature's best kept secrets.

With the main focus on Mapazi being the experience, Deb is sure to keep everyone interested with facts about the bush and exciting game experiences. Each walk will be tailored around the ability and interests of each individual party, with guests being able to broaden their own safari skills with their involvement and interpretation of the bush. When not guiding guests, the quiet months will serve as the opportunity for the camp to act as a base for anti-poaching patrols.

The camp itself will have everything you need for a comfortable stay, from a shaded bar area, to a comfy seating area under canvas. The bar is well-stocked and refrigerated and a camp fire will be lit in the evenings after some tasty and wholesome food.

Accommodation

The accommodation will be simple luxury, offering large walk-in tents, solid beds made up with mattresses and pillows, solar lighting, a private bathroom for each tent with a hot shower, flushing toilet and a hand basin along with a shaded porch with reclining chairs.

Facilities

Mapazi Camp comes complete with a comfortable seating area under canvas, a well-stocked refrigerated bar, laundry service included and some great food cooking right in the bush.

Activities

The main activity at Mapazi Camp is walking safaris. Guests will head out with Deb as their guide to explore this remote area of the South Luangwa National Park.

Location & Directions

South Luangwa National Park, Zambia

Mapazi Camp is a seasonal non-permanent camp which is located in a remote sector of the South Luangwa National Park.

When to go

Zambia has a moderate to sub-tropical climate with three distinct seasons: from November to March is the Emerald, or the rainy season, April to July is Zambia's winter, when the weather is cool and dry, and August to October is summer, when the weather is hot and dry. In terms of game-viewing, the drier months, meaning a higher concentration of game at the permanent water sources, are a superb time to visit. Alternatively come for some superb bird-watching at the end of the rains.
