Christiana Lodge is only a five minute walk from Robberg Beach and is surrounded by the beautiful combination of the ocean, the beach, the wetlands and the indigenous bush. Run by siblings, Philip and Christa Joubert, who are from Plettenberg Bay, guests have first hand access to a wealth of local knowledge and will be cared for by the perfect hosts.
The lodge has eleven rooms, each is slightly different in its decor, lay-out and design. Some rooms have been designed with honeymooners in mind with beautiful oval shaped bathtubs, outdoor showers or even an outdoor plunge pool, whilst others have been designed for families featuring twin bed options with enough space for a third bed.
Where possible all the food served is organic and free range, and if you would like to eat dinner at the lodge, you can request this the night before and choose from some traditional Karoo dishes or even enjoy an infamous South Africa braai, dining in the main dining room or for the ultimate in romantic evenings choose to eat on your private deck by candle light.
There are eleven rooms in total all of which are en-suite. Rooms one and three have views over the surrounding nature area, room two has a balcony as well as a separate bath and shower. Rooms four and five are ideal for honeymooners with large oval bathtubs and sea views. Room seven is ideal for families with option of twin beds as well as a day bed for a third child. Room eight is ideal for parents with children in next door room. Room nine has a private deck, garden and plunge pool and is the most spacious. Room ten is the most private with deck and outdoor shower. Room eleven is very spacious with expansive views and a bath with picture window and wetland view.
Children of all ages are very welcome at Christiana Lodge however there are no specific facilities in place. Rooms 7 and 8 are ideal for families with their connecting options.
Facilities at Christiana Lodge include a wonderful swimming pool, internet access, beach access by foot and the option to eat a delicious home cooked dinner prepared by your hosts.
Plettenberg Bay has a wealth of activities on offer ranging from family friendly activities to adrenalin fuelled adventures. Choose from water based activities such as whale watching, dolphin trips, diving with sharks, to land based activities of mountain biking, horse riding, bungee jumping, hiking, walking, visiting monkey world and an elephant grooming project, as well as simply enjoying the incredible beaches local to this area.

Christiana Lodge is situated in Solar Beach at the end of Griz Nez street at Aquarius Close, just off Robberg Beach, Plettenberg Bay. Robberg Beach is a 5 minute walk away along a wooden boardwalk. The lodge overlooks a largely unheralded natural feature of the Plettenberg Bay area: the Brakkloof Wetland and broad panoramic views include the imposing bald outcrop of Robberg nature sanctuary and the craggy cliffs of Whale Rock Ridge.
When to go
Garden Route enjoys a moderate climate all year round. In peak summer season, from December to February, temperatures can climb as high as 34ºC, although winter temperatures can drop to as low as 4ºC. Generally, this season has many sunny days with high wind at times. During the winter months of June, July, and August, expect frequent rains and a couple of chilly evenings. From June to December, the Southern Right Whale (Eubalaena australis) graces Walker Bay with its massive presence.
