Birkenhead Villa is only a short walk from Birkenhead House, allowing residents to enjoy the fabulous treatments on offer at the SPA, to make use of the gym or to enjoy lunch or dinner at the House.
Birkenhead Villa boasts five suites, all enjoying great views of Walker Bay and the Cape coastline. All rooms are equipped with digital TV, DVD player, complimentary minibar and en-suite bathroom. Each room benefits from under-floor heating for the chillier winter months.
The Villa is laid out to maximize flexibility of rooming arrangements for families, certain suites are more conveniently located close to each other for parents and their children, whilst others can be accessed through private entrances. Suite 2 is made up of two rooms, each with king size beds that can be split into twins. It can either be occupied as a single unit or split into two rooms by a dividing door. The four other suites all enjoy spacious balconies or outdoor terrace areas.
Birkenhead Villa's layout is designed to enable children to be accommodated in rooms close to their parents which makes for ease, convenience and peace of mind.
Safe beaches are within easy reach but there is also a pool and garden at the Villa for the whole family to enjoy.
Birkenhead Staff are on hand to organize child-friendly activities. There is a ground floor sitting room with TV, games, toys and DVDs aplenty.
The private chef is always happy to discuss any food preferences ensuring meals are prepared and served when you wish.
A private chef will work with Guests to accommodate any requirement. The chef will provide a menu that places focus on fresh seasonal produce from the local area.
Alternatively, adult Guests are able to take a short walk to Birkenhead House for lunch or dinner.
From May to December opportunities arise for fantastic whale watching on this part of the coast, in fact Hermanus is generally considered to be the best place in the world for land based whale watching, so the terrace of Birkenhead Villa is a good spot to be based for the action.

When to go
Hermanus enjoys a moderate climate all year round. In peak summer season, from December to February, temperatures can climb as high as 34ºC, although winter temperatures can drop to as low as 4ºC. Generally, this season has many sunny days with high wind at times. During the winter months of June, July, and August, expect frequent rains and a couple of chilly evenings. From June to December, the Southern Right Whale (Eubalaena australis) graces Walker Bay with its massive presence.
