For those who enjoy larger, resort style hotels, or are repeat One&Only fans, then this certainly will not disappoint. Fantastic design with stunning views of Table Mountain (particularly at sun set - wow!), two popular dining options with South African Reuben's and modern-Japanese Nobu, a Kids Club, an abundance of helpful staff to hand, a spa, swimming pool and extensive buffet and a la carte breakfast, whilst being a stone's through away from the hustle and bustle of the V&A Waterfront.

The One and Only is ideally situated just a couple of minutes walk from the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and everything is within easy access from the top restaurants to the best beaches. There is a fantastic concierge service who are up to date on all of the best new restaurants and bars and will make any recommendations and reservations for you. The hotel also has Nobu restaurant if you want to have an incredible meal without leaving the hotel.

The island rooms are great for families but for couples or families with older children I would definitely recommend the Table Mountain View Rooms which have amazing views over the Waterfront with Table Mountain as a spectacular backdrop.

The best 'kids club' we have ever been to. While they were not able to do activities outside as some of the resorts do, the kids were entertained in the one space they had better than ever. They had a small outdoor play space, a mini trampoline, video games and movies (with a big screen and nice movie chairs), and the arts and crafts were phenomenal. If other kids clubs could only step up their arts and crafts to this level, the kids would be much more inclined to spend their time doing them. The kids made glitter bookmarks, sand art and bracelets and were thrilled to do it. It is the only time they have ever begged us to go to the kids club.

The Waterfront is Cap Town's newest development and definitely feels more cut off from the city than places like Camps Bay or Kloof Street. The One and Only is in the center with plenty of restaurants and the citys aquarium on its doorstep which make it a really convenient destination for families. The rooms are super luxurious and contemporary in style giving it the feeling of a modern city hotel and do feel somewhat generic.

What really sets it apart is the quality of its service along with great dining options, some of the best in the city. The Island rooms are definitely a great fit for families, the hotel is built on one side of a marina with an island in the middle where the huge swimming pool is located. There are family rooms on the marina which if youre traveling with children who will want to be running in and out of the pool are definitely the ones to opt for.

The other major draw if you are traveling with children is the hotels kids club. Its the best I have seen in Cape Town, really well laid out with inside and outdoor facilities and an activity program that groups different together so that appropriate activities can be offered to keep everyone engaged.

For those looking for a resort experience, all the amenities of a top hotel: excellent rooms, excellent service, acres of swimming pool, Nobu and Reubens restaurants, combined with dramatic views of Table Mountain, then the One & Only is a great option. In the heart of the waterfront, the hotel is a luxurious choice for anyone, from couples to families of all ages, to base themselves over a stay in the city. The hotel may not have the character and sense of place as some of Cape Towns other options, but it can not be faulted on the quality of its facilities and the excellent service which comes hand in hand with what is expected of the One&Only brand.

On the edge of a marina on the buzzing V&A Waterfront, this glamorous newcomer makes the other five-star harbor hotels seem buttoned-down by comparison. While service is still short of being seamless, the hotel raises the bar in Cape Town with its designer dining, luxurious accommodations, and innovative facilities. There's a Nobu doing faultless food with a nod to locally sourced ingredients; the Gordon Ramsay–helmed Maze, known for its tasting-plate menus; and a central bar with a gunshot view of Table Mountain. All of the 91 rooms and suites in the main hotel are smartly done in dark, African-inspired hues and sleek lines. There are also 40 island suites—hot accent colors liven up the decor here—set apart on one of two private islands within the marina that form part of the hotel (the other island has the retreat-like ESPA spa, wisely set away from the hotel's superbly staffed gym and KidsOnly club). Quieter and more spacious but without views, these suites surround a vast free-form infinity pool with its casual, alfresco Isola restaurant (hotel guests only in high season) that serves wood-fired pizza, tapas, and salads.
