Description

Northern Damaraland is remote and truly wild, extending into Kaokoland to the north and the Skeleton Coast to the west. Here you will find an enticing mix of desert-adapted wildlife including rhino, elephant and giraffe, the nomadic Himba tribe and a backdrop of rugged and truly stunning landscapes.

Omatendeka is a luxurious lodge opening in spring 2017 in this remote region, offering an exciting new base to explore from. Located at the headwaters of the Hoanib river, which is one of the main life sources of this area, you'll have a wonderful contrast of the harsh arid deserts and the lush natural springs. There are just nine guest rooms here, ensuring a private and peaceful atmosphere, and superb attention to detail from the wonderful staff.

There is a beautifully designed main area, with lounge, bar and dining space, set on an elevated deck overlooking natural springs. A swimming pool nearby offers a respite during the hotter months in between activities.

You will spend your days going on guided game-drives and nature walks, in search of the resident wildlife as well as taking in the ever-changing landscapes. Cultural visits to the Damara villages and to spend time with the iconic Himba tribe are also arranged, offering something really different and for many guests, a real highlight to their trip.
