Description

Mogundula is a tiny island paradise in northern Mozambique's Quirimbas Archipelago. Located not far from Ibo Island, it is uninhabited and offers a total castaway experience for intrepid travelers. The island measures 21 hectares, and has two beautiful beaches, a lake, forests of chestnut trees and wonderful coral reefs just waiting to be explored.

There are three beautiful villas here, accommodating up to twelve people and the island is booked on an exclusive use basis only. There is a 1-bedroom villa, a 2-bedroom villa and a 3-bedroom villa, offering the flexibility and space to accommodate families traveling together, or groups of friends celebrating a special occasion.

Whilst here you can enjoy exploring the island, snorkeling straight off the beach, diving on the unspoiled reefs, and sailing in a dhow at sunset looking for dolphins. You can combine a stay here with a few days sailing on one of the Ibo catamarans for a truly magical family adventure, or a safari in Southern Africa if you prefer.

Mogundula is a private island off the coast of Ibo Island in northern Mozambique's Quirimbas Archipelago.

When to go

Sunshine, blue skies and temperatures averaging between 24°C and 27°C along the coast are the norm, except during the rainy summer season from about December/January through to April when everything gets soggy and sticky, and temperatures exceed 30°C in some areas. The best time to visit is from May/June to November, during the cooler dry season.
