Shinde sits on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta. It is an intimate camp located on the edge of Shinde Lagoon which is teeming with animals and birds. Activities include day and night game drives and bush walks.
Shinde is a beautiful and elegant safari camp located at the edge of the Shinde lagoon, an ideal base for water and land based safari activities. Located within the Shinde concession of the Okavango Delta, which borders the north of the Moremi Reserve, the wildlife in the area is really diverse.
The main camp has a dining room and lounge area set over different levels, allowing a good perspective of the Delta's waterways. It is set under canvas and surrounded by beautiful mangosteen and ebony trees.
Located at the edge of a lagoon, it is surrounded by clear waterways, which flow over yellow sands and past palm-fringed islands. This is a photographer’s delight. The island is especially favoured by members of the antelope family, including the elusive sitatunga whose elongated and splayed hooves enable it to walk on the unstable beds of reeds floating on the water. The well-equipped delta craft will enable guests to see fascinating breeding colonies of herons, egrets, pelicans and storks. Your guides will also take you walking and for game drives by 4WD vehicle to view big game including lion and cheetah.
The eight large, twin-bedded safari style tents all have an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water and flush toilet with an open ’window’ looking out onto the delta.
Shinde Enclave is an exclusive 'camp within a camp', offering the ultimate in personal service with a fantastic wilderness experience. With a private dining and lounge area, this intimate hideaway also offers guests the services of a private chef, waiter and housekeeper as well as their own professional guide and game drive vehicle. Consisting of three luxurious tents built on raised teak decks and overlooking windswept papyrus beds, Shinde Enclave accommodates a maximum of 6 guests. Each classic safari tent features an en-suite bathroom, hot and cold running water and flush toilet - with a view! The luxury tents are within close proximity to the private dining area and viewing deck, affording an exclusive hideaway and perfect location from which a family or small group of friends can explore the Okavango Delta.

Shinde is a lovely, relaxed camp located in the shade of the palms on a large island in the North East Delta. The round fire pit area is brilliant for relaxing at the end of the day with a well stocked drinks cabinet for you to help yourselves to pre dinner drinks whilst you look out over the vast landscape. The guiding is brilliant especially when it comes to teaching you how to take interesting photos of the varied landscape. Do ensure you ask for a room with an open view as some are quite restricted by the trees.

I had visited Shinde quite a few years back so it was lovely to return and see how the tents had been upgraded and refurbished. Each has been given a larger deck, and the tent feels much more spacious, with the outside area much bigger and perfect for whiling away the afternoon particularly for birders we were able to spot a number of bee-eaters, sunbirds and waxbills from our deck as they hopped about in the branches of the tree close by. Shinde retains its relaxed feel; although I was a little sad to see that the chandelier, a real talking point, had been removed from the dining room! This is in keeping with the soft refurbishment of the camp, and the new furnishings look lovely, but I had a real fondness for that chandelier so I was sad to see it had gone. The rest of the camp is beautiful and remains a huge favorite of mine it has an airy, tree-house feel and with the many levels there is always a spot to relax in. The guiding remains good, and we spent a very enjoyable afternoon whipping down the waterways by motorboat before trying our hand at fishing in one of the larger lagoons.
