To start planning your vacation to Little Vumbura
Little Vumbura is a stunning six-roomed tented camp situated to the north of Mombo in a private reserve bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the north of the Okavango Delta. The camp overlooks the perennial floodplains and the clear Delta waters.
Little Vumbura Camp is an intimate escape hidden on a picturesque island surrounded by the floodplains and deep, clear channels for which the Okavango Delta is so famed. Mokoro, boating, game drives and hot air balloon safaris take advantage of both habitat and wildlife.
Surrounded as it is by water and lying close to large rivers, water-based activities are a focus at Little Vumbura Camp with mokoros traversing the floodplains under the guidance of experienced polers. Motor boats make their way up and down the permanent channels.
Game drives in open Land Rovers allow guests to get close to animals in the savannah areas. Walks (on request) around the islands are an opportunity to enjoy Africa from a different perspective. At an extra cost, hot air balloon safaris (available April to September) are also a unique way to discover the unique and game rich eco system of the Okavango Delta. Game viewing is consistently good all year round at Little Vumbura Camp with lion, leopard, elephant, sable and buffalo along with extensive plains game providing an excellent all-round wildlife experience in this remote corner of the Okavango Delta.
Little Vumbura Camp is also part of a community participation initiative at Wilderness Safaris - bringing the communities that live around the Okavango Delta into the tourism mainstream.
The six tented rooms of Little Vumbura are large and comfortably appointed. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, shower and flush toilet. The tents are positioned in the canopies of the vegetations to keep them shaded and cool.
The camp is not suited to very small children, so there is a minimum age 8 years. Food and meal times can easily be tailored to suit the needs of younger guests.
A plunge pool and reading area overlook the floodplains and a star deck leads off the dining area.
