One of the most luxurious camps in Botswana, Little Mombo has just three beautifully appointed tented rooms overlooking a floodplain in the Okavango Delta and offers the highest standards of guiding and service in a remote and pristine location.
Little Mombo is an extension on Mombo Camp situated on Mombo Island, adjoining the northern tip of Chief’s Island in the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana. The camp’s three luxuriously furnished tents are raised high off the ground and adjoined by wooden walkways. This allows game to wander freely through the camp while at the same time enabling guests to maintain a safe distance. One often finds that animals take refuge under the rooms, making for some interesting night-time noises!
Each beautifully designed tented suite has its own entrance, sitting room with a bar, separate bedroom and bathroom areas with a dressing area, indoor and outdoor showers, double vanity and a separate toilet. Each private deck boasts a private plunge pool and swing bed that overlooks the Delta.
Mombo Island is surrounded by open floodplains and the camp itself is largely built in and around the shade of some large mangosteen, ebony and fig trees - overlooking a wonderful floodplain teeming with game. A plunge pool on the main deck makes a great place to relax in the heat of the day.
The highlight here is the concentration of plains game and all the predators with lion sightings being particularly good, and game even wandering straight through camp. Guests could also see leopard, large herds of buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, elephant, white rhino, hyena, giraffe, wildebeest and zebra.
Little Mombo Camp is built under a shady canopy and has just three luxuriously airy rooms under canvas with en-suite bathrooms and outdoor showers for guests looking to acquaint themselves with nature. All the tents have views of the surrounding flood plains.
The camp is not very well suited to younger children which accounts for the 8 years minimum age.
There is a sala, large veranda and lounge area, providing ample place to relax and enjoy the view. Little Mombo Camp also has its own dining room, kitchen, curio shop and pool.
Activities include morning and afternoon game drives. Open 4x4s provide an exquisite vantage for viewing the high concentrations of plains game and all the predators - including the big cats. Lion sightings are frequent. Guests at Little Mombo Camp can also expect to see leopard and cheetah, wild dog, spotted hyena, large herds of buffalo, elephant, white rhino, southern giraffe, blue wildebeest and Burchell's zebra.
If you are looking for a bit of pampering, massages can be arranged on request.
