Once you enter through the front door of La Sultana, the noise from the hustle and bustle of the medina disappears. Five riads have been combined to create this luxury boutique hotel, with its extraordinary rooms and panoramic views from the expansive roof terraces over the Royal Palaces.
There are 28 sophisticated rooms and suites that spread out across the property and each has been styled with a different theme in mind, such as the safari room with its animal print furnishings and African touches. Whichever room you have you are sure to feel pampered beyond belief - the attention to detail the hotel puts into ensuring the comfort of its guests is second to none.
A magnificent rooftop terrace overlooks the ancient Tombs of the Saadian Kings and out across to the beautiful Atlas Mountains in the distance. You can enjoy breakfast or lunch here and watch the sun rise as the city of Marrakech comes alive.
If you are looking to be pampered after a long day haggling in the souk, then a traditional hammam treatment at La Sultana spa will have you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated in no time. They have a fairly large swimming pool if you wanted to do some lengths and the spa offers a wide range of treatments; anything from hydrotherapy to aromatherapy.
The hotel offers great food, using fresh ingredients that have been inspired by Mediterranean and Oriental influences. Dinner is often served around the pool area and softly lit by candlelight, which can make for a very romantic evening.
La Sultana offers something different for guests who want the riad experience but with some of the amenities of a larger hotel in the heart of the Medina.
La Sultana's 13 Prestige and Deluxe Rooms and 14 Junior, Classic and Deluxe Suites are all spread out between the five riads which have now been merged to form this palace-like property. Each room and suite has been meticulously decorated in an individual style creating an elegant and intimate atmosphere. Every modern comfort has been considered from DVD and CD players to warming open fires for chilly evenings and rooms are adorned with antiques and fine art with sculpted or high vaulted ceilings, and marble, copper, tadelakt and precious woods being used throughout.
|Prestige Deluxe Room||
The Prestige Deluxe Rooms are Moroccan in style and measure between 30-40 square meters, with either marble or zellige bathrooms.
Junior Suites are between 40 and 45 square meters and share the Moroccan style. In these rooms it is possible to add an extra bed.
|Junior Suite Deluxe||
The Junior Suite Deluxe are very similar to the Junior Suites, however they have the added luxury of a private balcony.
Suites at La Sultana Marrakech range from 45-60 square meters and feature a bathroom with bathtub and shower, king-size bed, fireplace, antique furniture, paintings and collections of works of art. An extra bed can be added.
Suite Deluxe at La Sultana range from 60-75 square meters and feature a bathroom with bathtub and shower, king-size bed, fireplace, antique furniture, paintings and collections of works of art as well as their own private balcony. Two extra beds can be accommodated.
The Exclusive suite measures over 100 square meters, formed of a bedrooms with a separate living room, two bathrooms and a private terrace overlooking the Bahia Palace. The Exclusive Suite can accommodate two additional beds.
Children are welcome at La Sultana, however there are no specific facilities for them. Babysitting and children's meals can be arranged on request and the hotel will do their best to help with any specific requirements.
All meals can be served on the terraces, poolside or in the many intimate spaces within the hotel, with Moroccan, Oriental and Mediterranean flavors abounding. With 1200 square meters of terraces, glorious hanging gardens, heated swimming pool and a library, there are plenty of places at La Sultana in which one can retreat. The spa has two hammams, a Jacuzzi, sauna, fitness center and open-air massage cabins for the ultimate in pampering.
La Sultana is a stone's throw from the Royal Palaces, museums and souks which draw visitors to Marrakech. There are three magnificent 18-hole golf courses within a ten minute drive and horse riding and quad biking are also within easy reach.

When to go
Weather-wise, the best times to go are spring and autumn, when temperatures are 20°C to 25°C by day and at least 10°C by night, and November to February, with cooler nights but similar daytime temperatures and light rainfall possible. The weather in March and April features sporadic, light rainfall with some sandstorms in April, while June sees dusty siroccos (desert winds) sweep through the city. From mid-June to August temperatures rise into the 30s and occasionally 40s.
