Jnane Tamsna is set in nine stunning acres of landscaped gardens. The hotel was established over 15 years ago by the luxury villa designer Meryanne Loum-Martin and her husband Gary Martin, a landscape enthusiast, and together they have created a tranquil and sophisticated oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the Medina.
The hotel has 24 bedrooms spread across five different properties. Jnane Villa has five en-suite bedrooms, its own large swimming pool and private gardens. Jnane House has a total of ten en-suite bedrooms, six are located on the garden level and four are located on an upper level with private roof terrace. The grounds comprise one large swimming pool and large gardens. The third property is the Jnane Moussafir which has five en-suite bedrooms all individually styled to represent Africa and India. All rooms have private verandas and private roof terraces making them ideal for Honeymooners. The Pavilion has two en-suites suites, its own garden and private pool. Dar Ylane, offers two additional large en-suite bedrooms, large swimming-pool and gardens. There is a lovely clay surface tennis court.
Jnane Tamsna excels when it comes to food. Ingredients are simple, organic and fresh and where possible sourced from their own gardens. The also offer cookery lessons for those wanting to learn traditional and authentic North African and Moroccan dishes.
As well as cookery lessons the hotel can offer gardening workshops, tennis, yoga sessions and camel rides. Excursions can also be arranged into the Atlas Mountains or into the Medina.
Jnane Tamsna has 24 rooms set across three different properties. Jnane Villa, which houses five en-suite rooms, Jnane Moussafir also has five and Jnane House has ten. Also within the grounds are two pavilions with two bedrooms for those desiring some real privacy. The rooms can be hired individually or the three properties rented exclusively as a villa.
Jnane Villa, the most recent addition to the Jnane estate, has a lush red foyer and an elegant swimming pool. Situated in its own private Mediterranean gardens, it offers five large en-suite bedrooms with open fireplaces. Downstairs there is a large dining room, a light and airy breakfast room and a living area with library, fireplace and veranda.
In a separate garden, the Jnane Villa Pavilion has two suites with fireplaces, sitting room and outdoor dining area, as well as its own pool surrounded by lavender and olive trees.
Jnane Moussafir consists of five different suites; Africa, Casablanca, Calligraphy, Persian and Indian. They are all inspired by Islamic art and design.
All suites are spacious and air conditioned, with fireplaces and walk in closets. They all have private north and south verandas overlooking an exclusive garden, as well as access to their own roof terraces. Each bathroom has a fireplace, bathtub and two sinks, with an independent shower and WC. The suites can be equipped with television, DVD and CD player upon request.
Jnane House, with a total of ten bedrooms, combines the architecture and layout of the traditional 'ryad' (courtyard house) with the spaciousness of a country home. The first courtyard gives access to comfortable, intimate living and dining rooms. There are six bedrooms on the garden level – four of them around a second courtyard – and an additional four bedrooms on the upper-level, opposite a wide roof terrace. Two further private rooms are available in Dar Ylane, a separate house a short walk away. The grounds, which comprise extensive gardens and two large pools, offer numerous alcoves for discreet private dining.
Children are welcome to come and stay at Jnane Tamsna. The owners have children themselves and therefore know how to make it a child friendly zone. Children can enjoy preparing magic shows, taking cooking lessons, participating in a gardening work shop or trying a camel ride. There is a day and night babysitting service available.
Food is a big focus here, with extensive gardens the hotel uses naturally sourced ingredients where possible creating contemporary Mediterranean and Moroccan dishes. The hotel grounds feature five swimming pools, a clay surface tennis court, a hammam (Moroccan steam bath) and treatment rooms for massage and beauty therapy, as well as many secluded verandas and private dining areas for guests to use.
Along with the private pools attached to each villa, there is a main swimming pool shaded by palm trees. Other facilities include a clay surface tennis court for avid tennis players as well as cookery lessons and yoga. Nearby the hotel can arrange camel riding, treks into the Atlas Mountains and hot air balloon rides for you. If you are after a little retail therapy you can do guided tours around the souks of the Medina.
