Located above Imlil, Le Village du Toubkal is accessed through a 20-minute mule ride from the roadhead. It is possibly the highest lodge in Imlil (you actually look over Kasbah du Toubkal) and a trail begins from behind the lodge right into the mountains beyond.
Le Village du Toubkal draws on Berber influences in its design and furnishings and offers six rooms and two suites. The rooms are really comfortable, with neutral tones and a dash of color such as richly woven Berber rugs, reflecting that lovely Moroccan rustic-chic that is so charming and welcoming. The suites have the added benefit of private balconies looking over the valley, and most important of all a bath-tub which is very welcome after a long walk in the mountains. None of the rooms have TVs, or much by the way of extra facilities, but it is their simplistic charm that makes them all the more special.
Downstairs you will find the spa, which has massage rooms, Hammam and a small chill-out area - all welcome to rejuvenate weary legs. Upstairs is the main dining room and communal space where meals are served when it is a little chilly. When the weather is warm, you can sit out on the large terrace with terrific views down the valley. Do note that from Le Village du Toubkal you can't see Mt Toubkal, but the views are superb none the less. Needless to say, there aren't many better experiences that sitting out on the terrace at night looking up at the stars with mint tea in hand.
