The Oberoi Philae offers a luxurious cruise along the Nile that sails past the landmarks of an ancient civilization. The elegant cruiser sails from Aswan to Luxor or vice versa and courses through Pharaonic dynasties that span thousands of years.
Having received accolade after accolade since its launch as the premier cruising vessel on the upper Nile, The Oberoi Philae has recently been completely revamped after being out of service for a number of years, securing it as the most luxurious of floating hotels on the Nile.
Another important distinction is the Philae’s use of private docks in Luxor and Aswan, which enable her to moor next to the shore, a definite plus on the busy waters on the Nile. Without doubt, the Philae is one of the most stylish ways to see the sights of the Upper Nile.
Named after the site of an Ancient Egyptian Temple complex, the Philae has 18 luxury cabins on board (larger than The Oberoi Zahra's suites) boasting large french sliding windows and bright shower rooms overlooking the Nile. Two of its four suites have their own terraces with Jaccuzis and all suites boast spacious bathrooms with separate rain shower, dual vanity counter and a television for bath time viewing.
The Philae's elegant restaurant specializes in gourmet international, middle eastern and indian dining and the impeccable service, presentation and design of both the restaurant and food make meals on board a first class experience. There is also restaurant on the pool deck offering alfresco dining and a well-stocked lounge bar below where international wines and spirits are available.
Guests may prefer to relax in the library, cigar lounge, 24-hour fitness center, sun deck, temperature controlled swimming pool or in one of the four therapy rooms at the spa at the end of a day of exploring. It is easy to forget that you are on a boat at all when staying on-board The Oberoi Philae such is the luxurious accommodation and spacious facilities at your disposal. A 16-chair theater is available to enjoy a film or a documentary to preview the next day's adventure through Ancient Egypt.
Onshore, an experienced guide will relay the history of the fascinating temples, tombs and sights en route as you journey between Luxor and Aswan on a four or six night cruise. These personal touches set The Philae above the rest of the many cruise options along The Nile.
On-board The Oberoi Philae guests can stay in either one of its 18 luxury cabins (36sq m) with shower room and opening french windows or one of four suites (54 sq m) each with spacious bathrooms, two with a terrace and Jaccuzi. The elegant and contemporary interiors of each cabin or suite have been designed with comfort in mind and to a high specification. All room options come with remote control blackout, coffee machine, LED TV, DVD player, electronic safe, wireless telephone, free WiFi and luxurious rain showers.
Children over the age of 12 years are welcome on-board The Oberoi Philae.
The Philae Restaurant offers fine dining in impeccable surroundings, the Lounge Bar is open all day for drinks and cocktails and in the evening there is a disco for guests to enjoy. The boat also offers an outdoor pool, sundeck, library, fitness center and spa with four therapy rooms and hairdresser.
Activities on board The Philae center around the itinerary you have taken and all your daily sightseeing excursions are with an experienced Egyptologist acting as your guide.
