Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Egypt enjoys a mild climate, making it a good year round destination. However, temperatures increase as you travel due south. Cairo can be chilly between December and February, and very hot between June and September. But the heat in Egypt is made bearable by the northerly breeze that leads to a drop in temperature at night. Peak temperatures in Upper Egypt occur between May and October, and are accompanied by extremely low humidity. The best time to visit Cairo is in the cooler months between November and March

Cairo has long-standing populations of major religious groups and past colonial powers, so it’s possible to find celebrations for most every major vacation. Islam, however, is the prevailing force here, and the month of Ramadan is one of the most pronounced Islamic vacations. It happens in July or August, and during this time, some shops and restaurants may stay closed during the daytime fast.

Description

A journey on the Steam Ship Sudan is an opulent and romantic experience. Elegant wood panelled cabins and Egyptian fine dining await guests on the boat that inspired Agatha Christie to write Death on the Nile.

The Steam Ship Sudan is a luxurious and elegant way to travel the Nile River. Built at the start of the 20th century, the boat has played host to many historical figures, and times past are evident as you enjoy dinner in the restaurant, or a drink in the lounge bar.

Agatha Christie was inspired to write Death on the Nile after traveling on the Steam Ship Sudan, with the option to choose the same cabin she slept in - aptly named the 'Agatha Christie Suite'. All of the boat’s five suites and 18 cabins are stylishly decorated with wood panelling, ornate beds and colorful, tasteful soft furnishings. Accommodation is laid-out over the boat’s two decks and set off wide passageways. Every cabin and suite has a bathroom and air-conditioning. Views of the Nile can be enjoyed from all of the cabins and suites, as well as al fresco on the terraced areas of the boat. The on-board restaurant serves delicious Egyptian cuisine, and the lounge bar is a fantastic place to enjoy a relaxing drink in the company of historical figures (there are pictures of prominent people on the walls). The boat prides itself on its friendly service and welcoming atmosphere, so you can relax and enjoy your cruising experience. The Steam Ship Sudan sails between Aswan to Luxor in both directions on six-day itineraries. There is plenty of time to enjoy the historical sites along the way, as well as soak up traditional Nile village life.
