Egypt has year-round sun, and almost no rain. Daytime temperatures range from pleasantly warm in the winter to very hot in the summer. Northerly cities such as Cairo and Alexandria are generally about 5ºC cooler than southerly areas such as Aswan and Abu Simbel. Nights in the desert can be extremely cold.
To start planning your vacation to MS Mayfair
The M.S. Mayfair is one of the newest boats on the River Nile. Launched in 2011 it is beautifully designed and decorated and a fantastic value option for three and four night cruises between Luxor and Aswan.
The rooms aboard M.S. Mayfair are contemporary and the communal areas spacious with panoramic views from the large windows. Some cabins have a balcony and all have bathtubs which is a rarity on the Nile. Cabins come with all the modern amenities including internet connection and LCD TVs. Using a combination of dark wood off set with black and cream tones, the ambience is refined yet refreshing, with a dash of art deco.
The upstairs deck has Jacuzzi pools alongside a plunge pool and day beds and sun loungers for relaxing after a long day's sightseeing. Order a cocktail under the shady canopy. Guests can also make use of the onboard steam room and sauna and can treat themselves to a relaxing massage in the spa rooms.
All meals are served in the Nile Avenue restaurant and time on the boat is spent on a Full Board basis and inclusive of all sightseeing with an experienced Egyptologist as your guide. The Upper First Salon is ideal for an afternoon cup of tea. At night, head to the Bel Air Lounge.
There is a small boutique selling books, stamps and postcards as well as a range of other items.
The M.S. Mayfair departs Luxor on Mondays on a four or seven night cruise or Aswan on Fridays on a three or seven night cruise.
There are 74 cabins, of which eight interconnect. Rooms have LCD TVs, Tea and Coffee facilities, in house movie and music program, in-room safe, mini bar, air-conditioning, telephone, internet and bathrooms with bathtubs and hair-dryer.
