Re-opening in March 2018 after a long closure and full redevelopment, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island is set to offer couples and families a luxurious island hideaway. Located in the Amirantes group of islands in the Seychelles, Desroches is 6km long and 1.5km wide. A Coralline island as opposed to Granitic, Desroches lies flat, edged by 14 kilometers of soft white sand protected by a coral reef, rich in colorful marine life and amongst the top 15 fishing and diving destinations worldwide. This island is truly any outdoor enthusiast and nature lover's dream, and guests are free to explore the island's untouched beauty, and fascinating flora and fauna.
The Four Seasons will be the only resort occupying the island, with luxurious accommodation offering complete privacy and seclusion. The 71 Beach Villas, Suites and larger Residences are spacious and designed with a laid-back island style featuring bold patterned textiles, natural wood and vintage collectibles from the era of explorers. They blend seamlessly into the exotic island vegetation and all have private pools and direct access to the beach.
The resort has four distinct venues to drink and dine. Open all day, Claudine is the main restaurant serving Mediterranean Riviera inspired cuisine and in the evening guests can also opt to dine at The Lighthouse, an iconic building with a large outdoor terrace offering freshly grilled seafood with panoramic ocean views. Not to restrict guests to dining within a set venue, The Deli prepares fresh picnic lunch baskets to be enjoyed whilst exploring the island on foot, bicycle or buggy.
There are many places to discover on Desroches Island and with 14 kilometers of beach, guests will never struggle to find a secluded spot down one of the many secret tracks. Take a kayak for the day and explore the coastline from the water, or jump on a bike and cycle around the island, the possibilities for exploration are endless. Don't miss a visit to the Tortoise Sanctuary, where the Aldabra giant tortoises which are threatened by extinction are carefully cared for, and if nature is your passion learn even more about the island's vegetation and marine life at the interactive Discovery Center. There is also a local village on the island with a population of about 100, some of which are craftspeople with a workshop you are welcome to visit.
Desroches offers some of the best opportunities for diving in the Seychelles, with 15 classified dive sites offering exciting attractions such as tunnels and deep caves, as well as world-class offshore angling possibilities with deep sea fishing, fly fishing, bottom fishing and trawling available. The coral barrier surrounding the island creates the perfect conditions for swimming, snorkeling and water sports such as paddleboarding and windsurfing, all available from the Castaway Center. Alternatively, guests can simply enjoy a massage at the spa, or participate in an anti-gravity yoga class in the dedicated pavilion.

|Coral Beach Villa||These 56 - 65m² beach villas are located on Coral Beach on the south of the island and offer direct beach access and stunning ocean views. A spacious king-size bedroom with living space leads onto a furnished terrace and large private swimming pool and cabana. An expansive marble bathroom features a bathtub and separate shower as well as an outdoor shower shrouded by nature.|
|Sunset Beach Villa||These 65m² villas are located on Sunset Beach on the west of the island and enjoy stunning views of the setting sun over the ocean from a secluded upper terrace. An open-plan bedroom and lounge leads out to a garden with a private pool and cabana and the villas each feature a generous marble bathroom with bathtub, separate shower and invigorating outdoor shower.|
|Sunset Beach Suite||Offering extra space for couples or a great set-up for families, these 105m² suites are just moments from Sunset Beach and offer immeasurable ocean views. The interior comprises a king size bedroom, separate lounge and an additional study with sofa bed that can be transformed into a small bedroom for up to 2 children, with bathroom access. Outside an expansive terrace leads to a private garden with pool and free-standing cabana. The full marble bathroom spans the entire width of the suite with an outside shower and 2 separate WCs.|
|Desroches Suite||The two bedroom Desroches Suite offers a huge 233m² of living space with a premier location right on Sunset Beach. Two king-size bedrooms with full ensuite bathrooms and outdoor showers are separated by a choice of lounge areas, with a kitchen and additional washroom at the center. Each bedroom has its own furnished terrace and the main central terrace gives onto the large 45m² private pool.|
|Two-Bedroom Villa||Located on the northern shoreline just steps from the beach, this open-plan villa features two king-size bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and outdoor showers, a large central living space with dining area and a expansive poolside terrace spanning the width of the villa with a large private pool. |Three - Five Bedroom Residence Villas||Centered around a huge outdoor garden and swimming pool, these expansive villas feature three king-size bedrooms with ensuite bathroom, two with outdoor shower, a large open-plan lounge, dining room and kitchen and a TV room. Located on the northern shore just steps from the beach, these villas offer the perfect family retreat with tons of space. The 4th and 5th bedrooms in the larger villas are Beach Bungalows located close by. Butler service is provided to cater for your every whim.|
|Three-Bedroom Presidential Villa||Occupying a prime location on the island's north shore, this exclusive villa features a central garden with an expansive pool and deck with dining and lounging areas. The interior is made up of three separate areas, two king size bedrooms and one communal living space with a third bedroom with two queen beds. All bedrooms have their own ensuite bathroom and outdoor shower. This villa has the added luxury of a large open-plan kitchen and dining room, a BBQ pit and a private gym. Butler service is provided to cater for every possible need.|
The Kids For All Seasons club for 4 to 12 year olds offers complimentary supervision and activities from 9am - 5pm every day. Aside from relaxing on the 14km of secluded white sandy beach, there is plenty to do on the island. Guests are encouraged to explore the island by bike or kayak, and there are plenty of watersports activities to choose from. The marine life around Desroches make it a diving and fishing paradise and the resort can organize scuba trips and game and fly fishing. Boat trips can be organized to explore some of the outer islands by boat, or simply enjoy a cruise at sunset.
Explore this fascinating island on foot on a nature walk, where the highlight is most definitely coming face to face with one of the giant ancient Aldabra tortoises or spotting the nesting turtles. Head through the forest and visit the vegetable gardens and tree nursery, or the local craftsmen who will be pleased to show you their workshop.
|Cycling round the island||
Bikes are by far the best way to explore the island and guests have the use of one for their entire stay. The 15km of trails around the island are constantly maintained and lead to almost every corner and secret gem that the island has to offer. Desroches Island is at the center of a coral atoll and natural marine sanctuary blessed with flourishing marine life and coral outcrops. With 15 classified dive sites to choose from and a vast amount of virgin reef still to be explored, Desroches is arguably the best place in the Seychelles for scuba diving.
|World-class fishing||Desroches Island offers keen anglers a fishing paradise with four types of fishing available: fly fishing, bottom fishing, trawling and deep sea fishing. What makes this area so rich in fish stock is the 1300 meter trench which separates Desroches from the islands of Poivre and St Joseph. Challenge yourself to catch a wahoo, kingfish, tuna, sailfish, marlin or dorado which are abundant in these waters.|
|Watersports||Calm lagoon waters surround Desroches thanks to a coral barrier encircling the island, offering perfect conditions for a myriad of water sports, all of which are on offer from the Castaway Center on the beach. Desroches is located 230km south west of Mahé. Situated four degrees south of the Equator, Desroches Island is part of the Amirantes Group of islands and is approximately six km long and 1.5km wide, with 14km of immaculate white soft sandy beaches and crystal blue waters.
When to go
Situated just south of the equator, the Seychelles have a warm tropical climate. The consistently warm tropical weather makes the Seychelles a good year round destination.
There is little fluctuation in warmth, with temperatures ranging from 24C to 31C all year round. From May to October a southeast trade wind can bring marginally cooler weather and fresh breezes. From November to March the northwest monsoon wind blows, typically raising temperature and humidity. December and January are the wettest months, but the rain falls in short sharp bursts before the sun comes out again.
